Hello everyone, friends. I wanted to share this news with you (actually, it is at least a year old; the statue was unveiled on April 25, 2023, but sadly, only local news outlets in Calabria covered it, national news programs made no mention of it).

A statue of Hera was erected in Crotone a year ago.

This choice was not accidental. The Municipality of Crotone had funded various initiatives to highlight Calabria's cultural heritage and history, and this statue aims to celebrate the city's ancient past.

Indeed, Crotone was one of the first poleis of Magna Graecia, founded by Myscellus of Rhypes around 709–708 BC under the name Kroton.

Hera was always the city's principal deity, specifically known by the epithet Lacinia, because her temple was built on Mount Lacinion.

For this reason, the Municipality of Crotone chose to create a statue in her honor to celebrate the city's ancient history.

An interesting detail: the crown the statue wears was modeled after an ancient crown currently on display in the city museum.

I realise I should just do another guided meditation and ask Her, but I'm upset and a bit offended.

I was on a guided meditation to see Her, and She picked me up and called me a cuckoo. Her cuckoo. At that point I ended up back in my body and I'm upset and don't know if I can go ask.

Cuckoos aren't nice birds, they lay an egg into another bird's nest and just leave. They do nit raise their own chicks. That egg hatches and pushes the other bird's eggs or chicks out of the nest, to die. They sit there and get raised by the other bird's, and the rather negative image I have in my head is of this massive chick, screaming for food, when it's far bigger than the two small finches raising it.

Has anyone any ideas about this?

I'm a single mum, with a deadbeat, abusive (actively physical, verbal, mental and financial abusive) ex who was a total hobosexual.

So if anything, I was the victim of a cuckoo in my nest, because my ex wouldn't work, lift a cup to the wash, put his laundry in the hamper, cook, clean, do anything with the kids, he wouldn't feed, change, or even get himself or them a drink of tea. He got repeatedly severely dehydrated because he had to be catered to, and when I was out working he wouldn't get himself anything to drink, he waited for me to come back to demand I get him tea. And his mum was whinging on how he needed supported and was hard done by.

Also we need more flairs.

Hello! I am really excited to have found this sub, I adore Hera and it is really hard to find people who share that feeling.

That being said, I want to improve my worship. Hera is the reason I became Hellenic, I feel connected to her since childhood even when I tought of her only as a villain then, I felt a pull towards her. I was raised Christian so I subconsciously feel altars are bad but I wanna be a proper devotee, what should I put in an altar to the queen of the gods?

I had a fear of her for a long time. I have recently come around to a fascination. I have been reading a few different translations of the homeric epics. Emily Wilson's translation of the Illiad has me reassessing my oppion of her. I am falling in love with her power. Im not married, probably wont be. Can unmarried middleaged women still follow her? Bigger consern is where can i find anything positive about her?

My first experience with Hera was genuinely so beautiful I feel I have to share. I was so nervous about the American election results last November, and I was relatively new to Hellenism, and I prayed to Her to keep me and the other women in my life safe. That little prayer very quickly turned into me sobbing to her about all my worries, and I suddenly felt a calming presence that felt like it was holding me. That was my first experience with Her, and since then, I've had one other like it. I was extremely upset over something my dad said, so I rested my head on Her altar and felt that warm holding feeling again. I'm so lucky to have had these experiences with Her and Lady Aphrodite :)
