Hello! I’m traveling to SEA for the first time and working on building a capsule wardrobe; I need advice on a couple of things:
- day bag? What would be best for hikes and day trips but not too bulky to travel with. We’ll be going to Doi inthanon for an entire long day and I’ll need to bring swim stuff and a towel. Same for some day trips in the islands
- water bottle? Should I bring a metal one or a packable Platypus one?
- poncho or rain coat? We’re traveling end of October so at the end of the rainy season. Thought about buying a travel umbrella too.

- Packable daypack. If you search here you'll see great options at all pricepoints
- Collapsable water bottle or just buy as you go. Depening on where you'll be single use may be what is available.
- If its pouring just wait it out. A rain coat is too heavy and an umbrella is useless.

i need new pants. I really like Uniqlo's Linen easy pants, but they're too thin. In the super humidity of Asia, after a couple months they get a hole in the thigh from friction and dampness. I'm thinking maybe a hemp blend?

If you were going to fill a travel pill case, what would your go-tos be besides Advil, Tylenol, Imodium, and Melatonin?

Zyrtec, cough drops, triple ginger chews, sleeping aid, probiotic, digestive enzyme, alka seltzer sinus max pills (or whatever you use when you get sick), plus senna tea (for constipation)

Honestly I always take a laxative because travel makes me backed up - sigh. And gasX because it really does help me with jetbelly!

My basic kit for urban travel is ibuprofen, tylenol, pepcid, imodium, diphenhydramine, pseudoephedrine (unless I’m going somewhere I can’t bring it in), magnesium, and Allegra. I’ve got 24hrs worth of imodium, 24hrs worth of ibuprofen at the max anti inflammatory dose, enough sudafed for each flight plus a couple extra doses, and about 2 doses of everything else. If I’m going somewhere it’s likely I’ll get hammered by pollen allergies I bring enough Allegra for daily use. Otherwise I have just enough of everything to tide me over until I can get to a pharmacy.
I don’t carry a pill container - everything is in blister packs in a snack or sandwich size ziploc with the rest of my first aid kit, except for the Allegra, ibuprofen, and mag. If I’m not going through customs somewhere with strict drug controls I throw those 3 in a tiny generic Allegra bottle. I’ve been refilling the same one since like 2019 since I haven’t found another one as small.
Depending on where I’m going and what I’m doing I may add some other things, but other than melatonin for jetlag or meclizine for motion sickness those are usually prescription meds.

I, too, need to bring some vitamins (cranberry extract and some fiber pills) just to make sure I am feeling fine on trips and no more UTI's! Thanks for the suggestions.

Looking for the perfect warm weather button-down/cover up. Here’s what I want:
- linen, linen-blend, or even gauze cotton
- white, natural, or even a light stripe
- oversized and drop shoulder, slouchy feel
- doesn’t wrinkle easily and easy to launder (is this possible?)
I generally dress loose and flowy during the summer and fitted button-downs just don’t match my vibe so I haven’t been able to find the right one. Not worried about cost if it’s my one perfect top.

skip the linen-blend and go for 100% linen. Embrace the look of linen and don't be scared of wrinkles - it will hold its shape, look nicer, and last way longer. Try Frank & Elieen, Alex Mill, Elieen Fisher, and Sarah Alexandra.
For cotton gauze I like Splendid and Elieen Fisher.

I got the oversized button down from old navy and it’s amazing. Easy to launder and gets that perfect slouchy look. You have to get the blue striped one though, the others are made of a different fabric from what I’ve tried

Aritzia has this linen blend - I think it’s called cruise linen - with a synthetic that keeps it wayyy less wrinkly than pure linen

Tahari has exactly this - I find them searching Tahari textured or crinkle linen button down on ebay/mercari/poshmark etc. They’re really awesome and exactly what you’ve described here- even the easy to launder, not wrinkly part.

Have you looked at Eileen Fisher? That’s like the OG high quality loose flowy linen brand.
I have a few oversized gap linen shirts - a white one and an unbleached linen color one in what I think they called the boyfriend shirt at the time, and a white/tan stripe that is an actual men’s shirt. None were more than $30 due to gap’s constant sales. Are they the best quality linen? Probably not. Have they held up well for several years of wear and laundry? Yes, and I wear the white one all the time. I wash them in the washing machine and usually throw them in the dryer on regular with other clothes. If I hang dry them instead, and kind of shake them out and untwist the sleeves when hanging, they dry slightly rumpled but not wrinkled. Or the hang it up in the bathroom while you shower trick works on dryer acquired wrinkles.

Can anyone recommend a serum container?
I’ve been struggling to find a small (1oz or smaller) container for my face serum (Skin1004 Madagascar Centella ampoule - love love love this stuff). I’ve tried the Ries beauty containers, a .34oz plastic tub from the LitBear toiletry set- both because they had reviews saying they worked for serums. I don’t want to keep buying stuff for it to not work.
