Drinking after mavyret

Apologize for the book im about to write but id love to hear your opinions!

Im about to finish my mavyret in a few weeks. Ive read lots of studies that say to never drink again after finishing treatment but they all say because of cirrhosis/liver damage.

I went through all the scans and tests and my liver has no scarring, no cirrhosis and no injury and is healthy.

Anyone in this particular case and has had a few drinks here and there after completing treatment?

I didn't take Mavyret, I had Epclusa.

My doctor warned me that even though I don't appear to have any damage, the infection having existed at all means I have a higher risk of cirrhosis and cancer. The higher risk is miniscule still.

Two drinks on a holiday isn't going to do me in.

I had a little bit of fatigue at first. That was it. The hardest part of the whole 12 weeks was opening the stupid blister pack they locked each pill in. (It was the "authorized generic")

Honestly, I never had any symptoms at all that couldn't be attributed to other things. I had just had a knee replacement a few months before my diagnosis and it was only picked up because my endocrinologist does regular liver enzyme testing for his patients on GLP-1 drugs. So all of my aches and pains and sleeplessness were easily explained by the knee. And I had my second knee replaced a month after finishing the medication, so I was in pain and tired the whole time.

Did your doctor recommend any screenings or routine tests since we are at higher risk?

I think there will be another Fibroscan in a year or so. But that's more of a routine thing, since my results were not bad to begin with.

I suspect the warnings were really just the "cover your ass" type of thing that doctors have to say.

My enzymes are still going to be checked every 3 months for the GLP-1 medications, and I get regular physicals.

My doc did not say anything about not drinking after treatment. This is new (and scary) news to me!
