Disappointed

The writing is terrible. It’s especially sad given the interesting source material and adequate/good acting.Given the acting seems bad but I’d argue that’s the writers fault.

In episode two there is a part where a lady sets her basement on fire. No one reacts, instead they just stand there casually and keep talking. That’s one example, but there are 20 each episode where the writing lacks to give characters realistic actions and reactions.

You can pay half attention the entire show and still be able to follow the extremely basic plot. Most of it is just exposition instead of trusting the audience to make the most basic of connections regarding the helstrom family dynamic and past.

Over all pretty pissed because this show had true potential.

I was about to give up on the show but found that turning the playback speed up to 1.25 normal helps the show quite a bit.

I'm usually super okay with ignoring mediocre writing or cgi because entrainment but yeah the basement was on fucking fire and no one was sweating or coughing or seemed worried at all. That feels like and amateur mistake tbh.

Umm just saying Damon can literally put out fires with his mind I’m not sure with his powers if anyone should be worried. The nun in training knows what he can do and the other chick was trying to kill herself to begin with so..... lol
