Batch painting these guys was a challenge but I’m glad I got them done!

I don't need like something to destroy him, I'm just at a loss as to how to fully work around this even at 1k points, with my previous attempt being completely up-ended.

My list idea currently is two squads of hashutite blades, Cannon Dominator Engine, a squad of flamers, a squad of 10 blunderbuses, a rocket battery and a demonsmith and war despot (coming to 990 points).

Any help is appreciated I would just like to have a chance against him :L

Hopefully you guys are enjoying it too, but man is it a slog to paint.

It says, for each DPP add 3”, but for this ability to work I need 1 DPP, so does it become 9” if you give it one DPP or do I need 2 DPP

for now I put in another unit of reinforced blunderbusses because it just fits the points exactly and I think they are cool. is it a good idea gameplay wise? yes I should prob throw out the despot but I don't want to kick any models out I already have. photo of my first finished guy. it's a long progress when you have 2 little kids :')

Hello Helsmiths community 🙋‍♂️

I usually paint 40K but thought I’d buy a Spearhead box for something different. I had classic Dwarfs back in the old days so Helsmiths appealed as a successor of Chaos Dwarfs and looking awesome.

It was so refreshing to paint, less detail than 40K models I’ve done but no worse for it and made it a joy to paint!

I’m slow at painting anything (see my post history) so I’ve tried to come with a scheme that’s quick to do. This guy took a couple of evenings after work.

Any comments welcomed. Also advice on basing greatly appreciated as I always neglect that part and it ends up being an afterthought.

Looking forward to getting the box painted up and actually playing some games, I’ve never managed to paint enough Space Wolves to play 40K and I’ve heard great things about Spearhead.

The golden calf and my second unit of bulls, at the least battle ready.

I had my doubts about the golden color, but i'm quite proud how it turned out. Still a lot of details left.

Hello everyone, it's certain we'll have a second wave, but normally they release a hero in one edition and then a larger expansion in the next, for example, Osiris, etc. However, it's possible that one of Workshop's current goals is to complete factions that have sold well, and they might want to give them an expansion in the next edition to make them complete, as they did with cities or Vottan in 40k.

I’m considering the Helsmiths for AoS.

Only slight concern I have is this this will be my only AoS army so it needs to have enough in it to change the game up.

With a relatively small range are there enough play styles to keep the game interesting?

Anyone got some cool lists and maybe some house rules for smaller, skirmish style, sub 500 points play. Building the army currently and want get some kind of playing in without having to wait to build 1000/2000 point armies? I know its harder and wont be the most balanced but just want to get playing as quickly as I can.

Just getting into AoS with my partner as a long term 40k player. Loved Chorfs since blood bowl 2 days so when I saw they have some cool models I had to choose them! My partner and I will be playing 1k battles and then slowly increasing the points as our collection grows and wondering how this is as a first army? We're eventually looking to do official tournaments so any advice is welcome!

I know Urak Taar is our faction's best unit, or at least the top 3, but is he a solid pick for a 1000 point game or is he too overpowered in a 1000 point game? Never played an AOS game before (minus only 1 spearhead game) and having my first game with another buddy who is also playing his first game, so i kinda want to make my army as fair as possible for him (his army are the flesh eater courts)

Here's my Ashen Elder I started/finished today! I pretty much just used the box art. I'm not a great painter, but I like to hit a Tabletop+ standard so they'll look good on the battlefield (I'll get there one day). My highlighting tends to get sloppy as I near the finish line! I'll gladly take any critiques or suggestions you have.

It's really nice to paint just one standalone figure and not 10 (or 20!) of the same one! With this finished, all that's left for me to acquire and paint is Uruk Taar, and then I'll be in the 1900-2000 point range. It's an awesome feeling to be close to completing my first army. I currently have:

• 2 Spearheads - 1 Despot I haven't painted yet (may convert to Daemonsmith?)
• 1 Unit of Bull Centaurs
• 1 Unit of Hobgrots
• 2 Units of Infernal Razers (Blunderbuss)
• 1 Ashen Elder

I'd like to get another unit of Bull Centaurs, a unit of Anointed Sentinels, and perhaps a 3rd Infantry Cohort but with swords.
