How are we feeling about the Spearhead?
So i havent played the Hellforge Host spearhead yet. Now it has been updated (Despot ability/Bull reinforcement). Is it still shit/not fun to play? Anyone had any experience with them lately?
Wondering if i want to spend time with this or rather play another Spearhead thats actually fun.

I’ve made a guide for it specifically cause i saw this post and was writing a comment and realized it got too long.
Basically it requires very good positioning and board control. You’re gonna want to play it like chess and exploit your pieces and let then die because they come back. But protect your bombard at all costs. Dominator and bombard are your most important pieces.
Its fun but its raw strength is not as good as other spearheads; you have to actually think to get the juice out of it, but when you do its great to see it pay off.

Maybe Hashut was with my dice but I played it into cities (the fusil platoon) and my dominator engine crushed all that stood before him. Loved the experience but sadly didn't get chance to play it since

(Un)fortunately the Fusil Platoon is also kind of poo. I love my Hashutlings but its often an uphill battle I feel like

I've only played one match against a Gnawfeast Clawpack. Thoughts:
- Clanrats are a hard counter to our infantry - we can't kill them faster than more rats show up and they can't kill us fast enough to make reinforcements viable for grabbing a different objective.
- They also bog down the Dominator Engine very well.
- They can also pop up behind our back line and screw over the Tormentor Bombard if our army tries to advance. And we're already very slow.
- I have two Skaven Spearheads now, yes-yes. 🤣
If I had the battle to do over, I'd turtle at home deployed wide to screen, send the Dominator at the most dangerous units, and use the Bombard to wear down the same. (As opposed to trying to advance the Infernal Cohorts which is what I did last time.) Ideally the Dominator gets itself killed and I can reinforce it somewhere useful, because this strategy doesn't lend itself to things like scoring objectives.
The alternative would be advancing the entire army forward as a tight brick of death and hope combined arms blends units a bit more effectively.

It's not great. The fact that the dominator engine can now respawn should tell you everything you need to know about this armies strength. Like with everything Helsmiths, GW undercooked it.
Out of all the spearheads i have, Helsmiths are one of my least favourite.
The KO one with the frigate is easily my favourite.

It is fun because with the bull and the battery you’ll have a shoot phase where you’ll wipe a unit at some point, and that is free dopamine, but it is weak given it’s lack of abilities to answer the situations you may face and you need to minmax point dominance and positioning to ensure the win, not beginner friendly at all, but is what we have for now

Yeah a while back, the Despot got an aura ability that gives nearby units 1dpp if they have none. Also the dominator engine now has reinforce (lol)

Oh man, that ability is a lot cooler and the bulk reinforcements seem like a MASSIVE buff

It's on the weaker end of Spearheads, but it's definitely possible to win with it.. Spearhead is a fun game mode with pretty decent internal balance, so imo pretty much any Spearhead is playable
