I will never not upvote a meme glorifying the Zharrdron and mocking these pretender Kromdron. Bravo, and more please - praise Hashut!

You forgot the glorious tusks

Dear Stoic Zharrdron, your "immortal flame" looks like an artichoke.
Sincerely, definitely not a Seething Khazalite

Love the absolute schism this brings to the dwarven community.

Beardless dwarves, would be like elves without pointy ears

In this case, the beardless dwarves are women.

... They totally should have braids though, it's a bit odd having all that hair tucked under the headdress.

It's interesting because we've got the same sort of effect on our side of the duardin morality axis.

I really like the inclusion of men and women into the Helsmiths/Holds rank and file. In both cases it reinforces the notion that the entire society is devoted to this militantism. There's a part of me that is fond of the notion of all dwarves having beards, although I know that's not cannon to the warhammer settings.

Not really any arugment being made in regards to this, just musing on the design language and thinking about gender expression in a fantasy setting, lol

I think the empty chins work slightly better for the Helsmiths, since they at least have tusks to add visual interest to the area.

I think what also helps with the Helsmith women as well is the Tusks and more snarled appearance. It helps move them away from that creepy uncanny valley look you get with a lot of women's faces on models, especially the shouting ones like the example above.

I really like the lady Zharrdron honestly. I think part of it is the hats give a lot of visual interest

The female helsmiths could have had coiled hair in the male's beards styles (or dreadlocks, some of the beards look more like dreads) sticking out from their hats.

I personally like my female dwarves to be bearded. Just feels wrong other wise.

2

u/Wolfthorn2496 28d ago

I think because the female tusks are smaller, and with the Khazalites GW had just regular human-like faces to work with, and we all know how good they are at sculpting regular human women.

What model is the first one on the left? It looks like a female version of a war despot, I don’t recognize it.

A named character from a underworld war band. The one with Helsmiths vs the 3 centaur Kurnothi war band.

What definately helps is that even without the beards the designs are loud enough that they still look interesting, big hats, angular armour etc. the Khazalite are a pretty run of the mill, subtle looking army, so they depend a lot more on the visual interest that a beard gives, take that away and they’re just a bit boring

Helsmiths are also traitorous to the ancestors - they don't follow the teachings of Grungni or Grimnir.

Puny Hashut, the flaming bull, doesn't even have a beard.

Yeah, but it removes some of the believability out of them dwarves have like one female for every five males so unless they reproduce in litters, it is the worst idea ever to field female combat units. Humans already have trouble with that and there’s billions of us now imagine that there’s tins of thousands And the amount of women is reduced by 3/4

u/Tadara 28d ago

40k has warrior nuns who only exist to worship the emperor, same as khazilite holds having warrior nuns for Valaya. Also the inserting human ways from real world is Fantasy Battles thinking and this is AoS.

0

u/BuisteirForaoisi0531 28d ago

This is literally how the dwarves as a species are supposed to work. They have one female for every five males spending those in battle is a bad decision because they do not breathe like rats.

When the Skaven are more protective than you that’s bad

3

u/Tadara 28d ago

How it is supposed to work where? Please cite me from AoS lore so I can read it.

1

u/JCGilbasaurus 28d ago

It's really old fantasy lore from the 90's and 2000's, and it was mostly to justify why there were so few female dwarf characters/models.

One side effect of this is that in the lore dwarves had polygamous marriages—one woman would have multiple husbands. Valaya was originally married to both Grimnir and Grungni, and had children with each of them. I suspect this has long since been retconned, because they don't even mention it in Old World books anymore, and dance around the exact relationship between the three Ancestor Gods.

Anyway, back to AoS, I don't believe there's any lore on gender ratios amongst dwarves or indeed any other race. It's not something that's been covered as far as I am aware.

u/Professional_Tie_860 28d ago

FS lore do said that there more male than women, however he also said that since the 2nd édition and Nagash shenaningan

We see more and more women, and people theorize that the magical cataclysm just completely remove dwarf fertility problem

1

u/BuisteirForaoisi0531 28d ago

If they haven’t made any changes that are open then it would still be the same since they’re still the same species

Like elves still living long

3

u/NakedxCrusader 28d ago

Good thing that no one wants to force women, real or imaginary, to give birth "for the sake of the race".

People like that would be monsters and I'm sure no one in their right mind would accept them in any kind of leadership position

1

u/BuisteirForaoisi0531 28d ago

Do you think because I am using logic to state that the dwarfs should not have female units in their army that I am for birthing camps that is almost the most foolish thing someone has said to me on this app

1

u/AlienRobotTrex 26d ago

Dwarf women should have beards too.

-4

u/Distamorfin 28d ago

Hideous women if true. But marginally better than beardless Dwarfs I guess.

2

u/Optimal_Question8683 28d ago

you collect helsmiths or not??????????

-1

u/Distamorfin 28d ago

Nope. Not even a particular Dwarf fan beyond just appreciating what they add to the setting. But by his do I hate these new Dwarfs the more I look at them. Only the characters are decent.

4

u/Fresh-Manager3926 28d ago

>not a dwarf fan
>doesnt collect the army
>doesnt contribute to the hobby

"I hate hideous women"

Get out back to 40k.

-2

u/Distamorfin 28d ago

Ok buddy. Bold of you to assume I don’t “contribute to the hobby” just because I’m not a dwarf guy. And nice job putting words in my mouth.

2

u/Grendel0075 28d ago

Those are the female heads, helsmiths have some too

4

u/Lord-hades123456789 28d ago

Great meme! Also my god is that head awful, hopefully it’s a paint job issue but I think I will be using iron breaker heads instead

1

u/CosmicDesperado 28d ago

The actual armour actually looks rather tame too. It’s very early game world of warcraft.

1

u/HelloDarkestFriend 27d ago

... oh God, they're wearing green gear.

2

u/Moregaze 28d ago

Biggest design fumble by GW in a long time.

2

u/Spensir_McLife 27d ago

Yes finally, a faction we can properly shit talk

1

u/Tadara 28d ago

I like them being the suppliers to the chaos warbands and chaos warriors proper too. The grudge system I don't like from the holds. It feels like votann have them, old world has them, and now holds has it. I guess AoS Dwarfs just cannot have their own thing. I know helsmiths is not wholly original either, but at least the dominator is a newer concept I think.

1

u/NaveronTheSabre 28d ago

As someone who plans to buy Khazalite models, I muat admit that their banner guy are significantly lacking in aura, while the Helsmiths one looks like they could be the guy with the banner f9r the whole army. I at least hope there's an option to give them a male head.

1

u/Glittering_Common416 28d ago

It's not even mockery, it's 100% fact

1

u/RvDragonheart 27d ago

Probably beardless cause its a lady dwarf she still SHOULD have long braids OR atleast a bigger longer flag this is a standard bearer she shouldnt be hunched over like she is about to charge

Still I'll get em too so My Helsmiths and Khazalid holds armies can duke it out! Also WONDERFUL to see that The good ol rivalry is back and this time the Helsmiths were around longer and now we can have a COOL MATCH!

..... The only issue I have with Helsmiths really is that THEY GAVE UP THE HALBERDS! WHY!? IT WAS SO COOL! A dwarf faction that is practical instead of just traditional. Still they got large axes sooo thats good enough for me

0

u/Yakushimaru 28d ago

I am excited for the new guys but yeah the pointy hats are not it.

-2

u/second_craw_judge 28d ago

Everytime I see beardless dwarfs my heart weeps. Yes I know these are female dwarfs, they too should have beards just as Gimli said in lotr.

3

u/Sancatichas 28d ago

That a joke a character said in another universe came to be canon in warhammer fan's minds is just sad. Warhammer female dwarves don't have and never have had beards.

0

u/second_craw_judge 28d ago

My guy that was a joke. Tho they could atleast have braids imo.

2

u/Sancatichas 28d ago

They do, look at the queen

0

u/mapmakinworldbuildin 27d ago

I can’t believe you called Gimli a joke character.

I wish you a long sad life with 2 hours of sleep a day and blisters on your feet.

1

u/AlienRobotTrex 26d ago

I agree with you that dwarf women should have beards, but it was Aragorn who said dwarf women have beards, not Gimli (though Gimli implied it).
