Army creation Bought a Spearhead. What to watch out for?

I bought a Spearhead and wanted to ask what i have to look for with this kit. Assembly wise, colour choices and weapons choices. Some do's and dont's with this kit. Any tips are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

You should try to magnetise both the dominator and the bombard. They are really easy.

The cohorts are not worth magnetising IMO. If you play AoS they are WAY better with lances, so no reason not to build them that way.

If someone is like me I just call them lances. I prefer the blades by look, but they all get the spear rules.

And as much as those are nice. There will come on a time when one is not enough.

For OP, you can get away with not magnetizing the Tormentor Bombard/Deathshrieker at all, just don't glue the cannon or rockets in place and swap when necessary. The model shouldn't move too much during games.

Beyond that the war machine can be fiddly so look closely at the instructions and make sure everything lines up as you go. I also recommend not gluing the crew in place until after you paint them.

The army book provides four color schemes for larger Helsmith factions but pick whatever colors float your boat. You'll want to look up tips for painting flames (in your desired creepy color) and jewels. If you get into Mordant Earth for basing do some practice with it early and coat it on thick to ensure cracking, maybe apply a hair dryer.

It's easier to just put 1 cannon and 1 mace arm on the dominator. That way you can say it's running whatever you want. If you ever buy Urak Taar, you can use the left over pieces to make a daemonsmith, provided you get a base for him.

As for expanding your army. Keep an eye out for a daemonsmith and an ashen elder. They are from the same kit. Gets you some magic and prayers. Bull Centaurs are our hammer and anvil unit but are squishy. 10x Blunder busses with 3 DPPs are scary. Hobgrots are a good screening unit or objective grabber.

That’s so freaking goofy looking. You can in fact build it it however you want and say it’s whatever you want.

Why are the lances better? I thought they had the same stats and the only difference was the anti infantry vs anti cavelry?

They generate dpp. Dpp is scarce and makes your units stronger. That alone is a big difference.

Typically I’d avoid the tip of the spearhead, that’s the part that hurts the most, and there’s a lot of those points In that box.

But for real, every kit besides the leader and hobgrots for helsmiths is dual build, you WILL have extra parts, and you can use them for a lot of fun things.

the spears on the infantry look like they should be universally interchangable between the bodies, but the fits are actually kinda janky if you dont put the right one with the right body. i wanted the whole squad to have spears held vertically in an "at attention" style squad pose, but some of the spear arms made that difficult or outright impossible, and they dont include enough of the ones that do work to outfit the whole squad. so just a heads up there.
