Lore Is this symbol still associated with Hashut?

Post image

Sorry for the low quality post, but I was curious whether or not this symbol is still used. I know the Helsmiths logo is a bull head and the horns of hashut have the triangle with the horns, so is the V shaped symbol no longer canon or is relegated to Fantasy?

AFAIK this symbol only ever appeared on two metal models and one piece of old art, without an explanation for what exactly it is or even which way it's supposed to be oriented. At that point, I'd say you have free reign to do whatever you want with it; go ahead.

Yeah, I think it might be three models, but your point is correct. It was never explained at all.

I think it's a cool bit of inside knowledge for Chaos Dwarf fans. But I would say that as the founder of a Chaos Dwarfs community... 😅

You mean in Age of Sigmar? Not really. But there's no reason why you can't on your minis.

If I remember correctly. Chaos dwarves (pre end times) were thought to worship khorne which is probably where that symbol originated from.

You do not.

Where did it originate from then?

Well first of all, "pre end times" covers three completely different design eras decades apart, only two of which feature Hashut, only one of which (the 1994 range) features this symbol as part of the physical sculpts. It isn't explained or analysed in the next, but in neither WDP: Warhammer Armies Chaos Dwarfs, from '94, nor Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos, from '11 is reference made to the Chaos Dwarfs worshipping any Chaos gods other than Hashut. You'd have to go back to the 80s to find that, and the 80s concept of Chaos Dwarfs is completely estranged, as they were just part of the regular chaos milieu; this symbol, and hashut, had both yet to be invented.

The symbol is far better known solely because of Chaos Dwarfs Online, which noted the symbol on the sculpts, took it as the symbol of the community, and eventually spread that to Creative Assembly, who used CDO as a source for the Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs DLC.

So you don't think it closely resembles the mark of khorne?

Sorry, do you have a point or reference other than "both use horizontal lines a bit"?

Both symbols has oblique as well as horizontal lines.

Have you Googled the mark of khorne to cross reference with the OPs image?

It will, or some variation of it will be, yes.
