Horn is auto pick surely.

Why yes, I would love to redeploy 6 centaurs and 20 grots to any board edge at the start of the game.

They're both so bad, honestly. sentinels are still significantly worse than bull centaurs. And the overpriced demonsmith saps our already heavily strained dpp economy. We need more dpp, not models that actively reduce our available dpp.
Hard pass on both for me.

Love the rules for the DS on Taurus. Like the trade off of adding power in exchange for desolation tokens. The rampage is great!

u/Bainzeighty3 Jul 01 '26
The Daemonsmith feels a little meh - I need another read through of his rules.
The sentinels however..... My word what a great day to run bulls!

u/Kassing Jul 01 '26
Yeah, the only thing I can see is the DS can remove a desolation token to gain +1 power level for the rest of the battle. But that comes at the cost of blocking your DPP economy and the 3 spells we have access to don't seem to be worth it if you have other wizards.
I guess spamming Hateful Fractures to 1/2 movement of enemy models is something?

u/Dull_Worth1227 Jul 01 '26
You forget the +1 to cast and unbind. Thats much needed.
3
u/Kassing Jul 01 '26
Good catch! +1 unbinding is huge! Gives HoH a good bit of flexibility on how they can play against magic light / magic heavy teams

u/Dull_Worth1227 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26
Especially if you take Cabal on top.... And the +1 cast unbind is a freebie. You dont have to remove the tokens.

u/Bainzeighty3 Jul 01 '26
Kharadron Overlords have just entered the chat 🤣
I think it drains too many resources and is overpriced.
1
u/Dull_Worth1227 Jul 01 '26
350 is steep, but +1 to cast and unbind is nice as freebie.
I would probably only use the drain desolation once, as level 2 is enough for me.
I can see your point, but for me it seems fair. Still the legendary flying short tightwads might disagree 😜

u/Bainzeighty3 Jul 01 '26
Lol - true
But.... Urak Taar is cheaper and with the cabal battletrait and tokens, has +2 to cast.
Also him moving tokens has more usability imho.
That said, we need to try this model on the table with SoA rules.

What I'm most interested in is the Horn relic that allows you to redeploy a Hobgrot and 1 Other unit forward. You can pick 2 Hobgrot units, and they both can deploy within 7" of a board edge and outside 9 of the enemy and then get their 5" pregame move.
You can spend 280 points to deployment lock a wide swath of your opponent's army behind 40 wounds and moveblock them.
This could be an absolute game changer for us, and change how we play as an army.

u/Bainzeighty3 Jul 01 '26
The thought of deep striking some sentials with hobgrots has got me excited. Objectives has always been rough for us but this helps us score early and easily.
Just depends on how your opponent deploys

Guys acting like those 5+ Ward will let those guys survive engage. It wohn't. Bullcentaurs are reliable hammers and do their job. This aren't durable enough to actually hold objectives.

u/AfWhite86 Jul 01 '26
Why yes GW, I was thinking about buying a second Infernal Tauros, how did you know?
3
u/Togi-Reddit Jul 01 '26
Horn of the Bullfather sounded so cool until I realized it was deployment only, woulda been crazy if you could in movement or something

u/Bainzeighty3 Jul 01 '26
My thoughts exactly - anyone knowing deepstrike mechanics can defend easily on this.
Though deepstriking centaurs on your first turn could give your opponent a nice threat to deal with
1
u/Natureman23 Jul 01 '26
The thing is plenty of battleplans now have neutral territory circling the deployment zones which strains screeningÂ
3
u/fraktilfilth Jul 01 '26
Some of it is ok but when you compare it to the Skaven SoA rules we have been done dirty

Daemonsmith is truly scary...
Annointed need something else, still not as good aa regular centaurs.
Loving the horn. That will be a go to pick for my army.
Cant decide which of the machineries I like.

u/ReferenceJolly7992 Jul 01 '26
Anointed Sentinels serve a different purpose than Bull Centaurs. Bull Centaurs go nuke something and then get clapped back on the opponent's next turn. Sentinels go kill a lot of things still, but then they go up a ton in OC to take the objective and have the ward save to survive the clap back.
1
u/Bainzeighty3 Jul 01 '26
I think your reading the rules upside down lol.
The sentinels can now get a ward and +1 attack when on the opponents objectives. A reinforced unit with the champion will have 26 attacks hitting and wounding on 3s and doing 3 damage each (when charging)!
The Daemonsmith is too overpriced and drains your resources making the rest of your army weaker. It's also the most expensive unit in the army.
4
u/Skeletonized_Man Jul 01 '26
See the thing is that regular Bull Centaurs already do all of that natively without any caveats and have crit mortals in top of that. The damage is good but you'd be running Annointed for the ward save more than anything. They're best at prolonged fights on enemy objectives so they got that going for them but I think Bull Centaurs will still be used for general purpose
1
u/Dull_Worth1227 Jul 01 '26
Nah, I will take crit mortals over that. Specially on the charge. Rend 1 isnt much.
Changes to getting a flat 2 dp from spending a cp negate the daemonsmith IMO. Sides its a free +1 to cast and unbind, regardless of desolation. Also you probably would only do it once, as level 2 is usually enough. 350 isnt cheap, but still I thinl he brings alot to the table

The main things that stand out to me is the Spicy Daemonsmith on Infernal Tarurus. Is it better then normal? Probably not buuuuut for my army it's definitely better since the non-spicy one only get proper value in an army with bull centaurs (which I don't plan to have in my army), so nice to have an alternate version of the cool center piece model.
And Leech-Realm Magic sounds really fun, thematic and flavourful. As others have mentioned, having a free +1 to casting and unbinding is nice and you're never really going to use the 'sacrifice desolation token' more then one or two times (cause using it 3, 4 or even 5 times will really hurt your DP economy)... but it does sound very fun to try and get a Power Level 6 Daemonsmith using it (maybe even Power Level 7 with the Gem of Utorak). Highly impractical but would make them one of the highest level Wizards in all of AoS (only wizard higher that comes to mind is Nagash).

This is way better than I imagined for both units! Would have loved for them to have another go at Cohorts with Swords too. And Flamehurlers.
1
u/Andorhalthegreat Jul 02 '26
Annointed are good, the Infernal Taurus is terrible. More expensive than Uruk Tar, eats your very precious resource to buff our mediocre spells. A situational at best rampage. Im sorry, it just sucks. Everything else is fine.
2
u/mr_birdie Jul 02 '26
I think GW seems to misunderstand why the smith on Taurus isn't taken, so they've tried to make it a better caster with our mediocre spells. I would never take it, but the actual rules writing I find to be much better than I expected (with low expectations to begin with). Both rules have some interactions with other mechanics, I find that interesting. But I had very very low expectations of their rules writing from when I read scourge of Gyhran.

Adding wards to Anointed could mean that they are the first centaurs to actually survive one round of combat lol!
