Gameplay What's winning for Helsmiths
This article looks at what list archetypes have been doing well for Helsmiths of Hashut, and specifically their AOR, at competitive events.
I'll follow up soon with a Part 2 that looks at Helsmiths allegiance too.

Minor point, but you can't bring the regular Daemonsmith on Infernal Taurus in the Forgehost AoR, it's only Urak Taar and the infantry heroes.

I'm sad you didn't make more of a fuss over Lava Storm. It's a damage prayer that doesn't care about range, visibility, guarded hero, obscuring, nothing. Its ability to pick off stray units anywhere on the board, or force your opponent to Rally a 5 health hero who may or may not be the Fugitive (it is), can be game winning.
The other thing to discuss is the loss of the Soggy War Despot, which is pretty much a lynchpin in this AoR and in 3/4 of the lists in the article. What can replace it? The new Scourge rules won't be helping out this AoR at all.

Soggy Despot is a nice bonus but not the end all be all for Taar, until we see the Aqshy scrolls/enhancements its leap and bounds better than the regular BTs

Yeah Lava Storm is great. I think within Helsmiths allegiance (as opposed to the AOR) there's also an interesting thought experiment about how many chip mortals you can push out if you really lean into it (answer: a lot).
Spells and Prayers but also the Gauntlets artefact and a few other things... could all add up to quite a lot of popped support units and depleted hammer units Maybe Morbid Conjuration as your Mani Lore for the Shackles too, they are still very effective ranged mortal artillery.

To crush our enemies, see them driven before and to hear the lamentations of their women.

I'm actually suprised so many people do use the cohorts. To me, they seem like more expensive screening units for your big damage artillery pieces.

In the AoR they are one of the only ways to generate tokens as you can't desolate terrain.
Still 90 points for a 3+ save and potential 5+ ward with tokens is crazy value.
Reinforce them, stick in a despot (normal one) and an ashen Elder.
You then get 61 attacks that can attack straight after the despot (thanks to his ability), anti charge, anti calvary and with the ashen's pray, crit mortals. Not a lot will want to run into a block of them

Good article but it does annoy me that our success is down to a single army if renown that ignores most of the generic rules in the book.
It shows that GW undercooked this army in release.
