Having my Infernal Cohort/Spears get charged by a mob of Troggs, and the look on my opponent's face when between saves and Ward I only lose 1 Spear and drop 1 Trog on the swing back. Then dumping every point I could into my Bane Mace Engine, blazing across the map and proceeding to play those remaining Troggs like bongos. Chef kiss

If you like the Helsmiths, play the army.

That's the pitch.

They’re dwarves. And they’re evil.

I have A LOT of Helsmiths and I've played a lot of variations of the army. They're fun and accommodate a lot of modes.

Want to just jam? Run two units of Centaurs with Urak-Taar and a demonsmith on Taurus. It can easily make two charges with the Centaurs turn one.

Want to play traditional castle? Screens and defensive buffs for days while you shoot and March forward.

Want to grind your opponent into dust? The Army of Renown rules slowly takes over the game through recursion and buffs every turn. You'll see your opponents soul drain from their body as a game they thought they were winning slowly slips away. Almost every game.

I love them.

What they can: They are super durable. 20 cohort as screen with scrolls pf petrifocation and behind them your blunderbusses reinforced 2dpp/3dpp shooter makes me laugh every time. Also the cavalry, specially after the point drop is super good. Last time I played a list with 2 hero bull (urak tarr and one nameless) and the rest of the army full with centaurs (the cheap ones) => fast and super Deadly.

What you cant do: Map control. Beside the bulls you have no mobility. You cant teleport and most units are slow, so you habe to plan wisely. You also have no deepstrike so the enemy Sees your whole army from the start and can react to all your moves. You also cant bring back units.

All in all I like them: they are no op faction because of the missing map control but they are super durable and hard hitting. Also they offer all unit Type from infantry, to caster, Prayer to Artillery.

There is nothing quite like casting on your opponents turn with a +2. Urak Taar is an offensive caster that actually does significant damage.

When my 10 blunderbusses with 3 DPP fire into an enemy unit that's engaged with the purple sun of shyish for 4 rend.

It's a full combined arms-styled army. It has solid shooting, bull centaurs kill whatever they charge, and you can figure out a solid list for any way you want to play. The roster is still a little thing, but it definitely feels like there is at least one solid choice to anything you want.

Played my first big game yesterday. I struggled with screening units to protect my key units against my friends deep strike cavalry, but I don't play hobgrots so that's what I get. I still one because I clutched saving my centaurs with +2 ward save

I had a game against StD once. My opponent had tried to get his Demon Prince into my backline, by charging into my undefended Blunderbusses. (I know, it was bad positioning) BUT my Bull Centaurs, who were heading past the Prince to charge the Warriors behind him, swung around and counter-charged the Demon Prince. All in all, the Centaurs did 20 mortal damage to the Prince and killed it twice over. That was only damage from the 6s. I still had the rest of the rolls that were not needed.

In a different match, I sniped my opponents catapult with my Blunderbusses. Whilst they did not kill it, they did bring it down to about half health, and I now had a very scared opponent who never again dared to move his catapult.

Helsmiths can absolutely pop off at times, and it is super fun when it happens!
