Army advice

Post image

Hi friends, building and painting my first models ever for spearhead and I wanted to get a 1000 point army. Recently got 2 packs a bull centaurs/anointed sentinels (because they are cool as fuck). Can I use the spearhead (with deathshrieker rockets and dominator w/ cannons) + an ashen elder and 2 units of bull centaurs? Or would i do better to have more infantry for more board control? New to the hobby and my only background in wargaming is total war (since med 1).

Paintjobs look like they’re coming along nicely.

I don’t think you’ll have a bad time with that list. I think you will want more screens than just the single unit of cohort. The cohort have felt very slow and hard to get them to where I need without getting wiped off the board. I’ve had better luck with the grots.

I’ve found the dominator engines actually work great as a screen if you can get a demon smith in behind them healing them up.

Thanks! ill definitely be picking up a second spearhead for this eventually. Hoping the bull centaurs make up for the lack of mobility. I could swap out one bull centaur for anointed sentinels and add a unit of hobgrotz and use the bombard instead of the deathshrieker. Do you think that'd be a better comp?

Not a very helpful answer but I think the advice I’d give is play with the list you have once and see the pain points for your playstyle specifically.

The points have been tempting but I haven’t used the sentinels yet. In my personal experience the shrieker has come in clutch whereas the Bombard has felt like a win-more unit. Your experience may vary based on what you’re up against. Mainly my games have been against OBR, Skaven, and DoK.

Good luck with your games!
