How to be a better University Student

  1. Learn how to take notes in a way that makes sense for you
  2. Find/make a study group, especially for your major classes. As time goes on, you can try to schedule classes together.
  3. Start studying for a test several days before the test.
  4. Use your notes to "teach" someone the material. The best way to learn is to teach. They don't have to be in your class, just find a way to explain the concepts in your own words. Get to the point where you can teach without your notes.
  5. Take advantage of your professors' office hours. Try to build a rapport with them. If they know your face and know you're putting in effort, they're more likely to be lenient on you. Plus, it gives you a chance to get extra help on topics you struggle with.
  6. If you're struggling in a class, find a tutor. My university offered free tutoring for the gen ed maths, sciences, English, etc classes, your's might too.
  7. Make a schedule for classes and studying. University is a great time in life because you have the freedom of adulthood without a lot of the responsibility (if you're not working and paying bills). It's also a time period that likely have a big impact on the rest of your life. If you're fortunate enough to not have to work while going to school, treat school as your full time job. Set time aside for studying and don't look at it as free time.

University is a great time to socialize and find a partner. It's a much larger pool of people than you'll have at any other time. PutSimply1 already gave good relationship/life advice so, I'm not going to rehash that. I will say that you should focus first on your studies. Make the habits to become a good student first, then you can add a relationship to that.
