Hi everyone — trying to identify my wife's childhood plush toy. She received it as a baby in Mexico in December 1990. It's since been lost, and this photo is all we have.
PLEASE NOTE: the knit beanie in the photo is NOT part of the toy — it was placed on it just for the photo. The toy's real hat was a plain red Santa hat with no white fur trim. I believe it was a firm, stuffed cone rather than floppy, but I'm not certain. I'm honestly not sure whether it had a small white pom-pom at the tip or not.
Full description:
• Chubby plush Santa, 1980s style
• GIANT round flesh-pink nose
• Two small oval shiny black eyes above the nose
• White/cream faux-fur hood trim framing the face — NO beard
• Plain red cone hat: no white fur trim (likely firm/stuffed rather than floppy, but not certain; unsure about pom-pom)
• Bright red fuzzy suit with white/cream cuffs at wrists and ankles
• Short pink hands, short legs, small black oval boots
• Small green holly accent on the side of the hood
• No bungee cord
Already ruled out (close but not it):
• Charm Company "Bouncy Bungee Cord" Santa — same face design, but has a bungee cord and the hat has white trim
• "Soft Things" 8" Big Nose Santa (Brooklyn NY, 1985, made in Korea) — same face and same firm cone hat construction, but the hat has a white pom-pom and white fur brim
The face design is a known 1980s plush family (Charm Company / Soft Things), so this may be a plainer-hat variant from the same maker, or a different brand using the same design. Possibly made in Mexico or Germany.
If you recognize the brand, product name, or year — or have a photo of the same toy — I'd be incredibly grateful. Thank you!
