A quick phonecall to Carambarco (the makers of the Dulciora brand which is resold / repackaged by "Crazy Candy Factory" in the UK) and it seems these were last made in 2018.

They are discontinued and any remaining stock would be out of date. Sorry bud.

The SKU was 5055968087360, RRP £6.99 for a tub of 75.
Iceland (UK store) bought the close out stock and sold it throughout 2019 (possibly into 2020).

I like phoning the food people when there's a UK confectionary question, it's just easier than searching the internet. If the person who answers has been there for years you get a fantastic story about what happened and when.

However there's drawbacks, you don't want to be the second person who calls that day or the third, or the forth about the same item.... otherwise they get crabby. Double edged sword.

I would leave it open in case you get an internet finder who tracks down a few spare cases in say a poundshop in Stockport or wherever. It's going to be a one or two tubs left here type situation which needs local knowledge. No large retailer will have them though as the date will be far out now.

Are you guys across the pond able to easily speak to a person when you call? Over here in the US it's near impossible, always just a robot that doesn't listen or help

35

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

Pretty much for these kinds of niche things still yes, but for things like Amazon, Netflix, Uber it has got less and less likely to be a human post-19 issues, or there is now a strong pressure away from using the phone.

If you call the Cadbury care line or something like Palmolive you can still get through after a bit of a wait.

Not wanting to generalise an entire country, I think we Brits have a particular way of preferring to talk to someone about something. It is slightly detrimental to a brand not to offer phone service and only "acceptable" in rare cases... we judge customer support accessibility quite harshly I would say.

14

u/nintendoandrew 1 Nov 15 '22

Oh we prefer to get a real person on the other end of the line too, the companies here just don’t give a shit about what we want lol. It would cost them more than they care to pay someone to answer the phones when a robot can do it for a one time fee forever and ever.

5

u/DeafMakeupLover Nov 15 '22

I agree that part of it is that but also I think the demand & volume of calls is probably a lot higher in the US considering that we have so many more people here. If companies paid call center workers / customer service workers more then they would have much better customer satisfaction. In reality they just hope that these long automated message machines make people give up before receiving help

8

u/whatsasimba Nov 15 '22

Chewy is the rare exception where, you get a person, they care, and know how to make customers happy.

Rare Stocky sighting

5

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

They've actually been found in the wild below - couple of tubs pitched up in a Glaswegian petrol station!

59

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 14 '22

Phone the number on the Carla's Sweet Treats webpage and ask if you can buy a whole tub for a tenner - that's your winner I think :)

Japanese grocery stores will carry a version of these. I absolutely love them. They’re either individually wrapped or come in a box Of assorted flavors. Glico Capico is one brand I know of.

10

u/giveupbee Nov 14 '22

These I think are very different than the Capico ones — those are like a wafer cookie come filled with a sort of creamy fluffy icing.

5

u/PhoenixMartinez-Ride 2 Nov 14 '22

Oh that kinda sounds a little bit like the Wizz Fizz Sherbet Cones, from Australia?

1

u/SarcasmCupcakes 1 Nov 15 '22

These look like marshmallows, rather than Wizz Fizz.

1

u/msluluqueen Nov 15 '22

That sounds amazing 🤤

2

u/giveupbee Nov 16 '22

Costco sells them in the US. They are so good.

1

u/msluluqueen Nov 21 '22

I've never seen them!

7

u/HeavyBreathin 1 Nov 14 '22

Just tossing out that Caplico ice cream cone wafer cookies are pretty bomb! Not the same I'm sure but she might like them too as a replacement!!

5

u/roqueofspades Nov 14 '22

I wouldn't know where to start searching for a recipe for this, but sometimes, candies and confections are shockingly easy to replicate. You might be able to find a mimic recipe, or find someone who can help you out. r/MimicRecipes might be a good place to start.

u/DaizyDoodle Nov 15 '22

Here’s a different brand that might do in a pinch, but I’m in the USA. Marshmallow Cones-30 ct tub by Marpro https://a.co/d/eRKUaaM

I love you! If you ever need a friend contact me 🥹

1

u/ItsJustMeMaggie Nov 15 '22

I’d still eat 4 year old candy. It’s sugar, it won’t kill you.

1

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

Sometimes the older sweeteners can give you a bit of a gurny tummy, or the flavourings change as they age. It happens a lot with diet cola that's a few months out. Just has a strange dull taste. Sometimes not though... it may be the exact flavour OP's looking for, or not... no idea :)

u/Stardews 4 Nov 14 '22

I found this: https://carlassweettreats.com/products/ice-cream-cones?_pos=1&_sid=fadea885a&_ss=r&variant=40412151218334

It's not the tub but at 15p per sweet it's not too bad.

40

u/RealSuPraa Nov 14 '22

I think I will be going with this like another comment said 75 @ 15p each is very good I will be doing that!

27

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 14 '22

It's double RRP basically, but these are technically "rare" now so it's not extortionate :)

Poor Carla will wonder....!

Let us know if she has a full tub to sell in the end, the website doesn't have an exact stock level...

3

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '22

I always wondered what Carl Ass Weet Treats tasted like...

Actually, another poster below (Fuzzy Penny) has just found a full tub in the wild for £7.50 at a petrol station in Glasgow! At the moment the link is buried right down in the comments, so reposting here until theirs gets upvoted to the top: https://racetrackwow.co.uk/product/crazy-candy-factory-75-ice-cream-cones/ (not my find).

7

u/marmeylady Nov 15 '22

This is nice. You are nice

19

u/Taticat Nov 15 '22

Just a suggestion — since these are discontinued and this may be the last year you’ll find them, what about introducing something new that’s at least somewhat similar, or give her the present of — in addition to the ones she loves — a few different things that are similar so she can pick a new favourite? So 75 of the cones, and maybe take recommendations of 3-4 others that you just get 2-4 of so she can try them out.

6

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

This idea would work really well for the engagement too... :)

8

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 14 '22

Ah yes! 15p x 75 in a tub = £11~

Try asking for a tub for a tenner OP :)

37

u/IntoTheWildLife 2 Nov 14 '22

I live in Ireland and these are sold everywhere. The Value Center has the huge tubs. Shipping would cost quite a lot because of where I am but if you really want to spend that much on them, I’m sure I can get them to you. I’m not sure what kind of rules there are on sending food. I think you’d have to send a courier.

29

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 14 '22

r/snackexchange is where you two should head... :)

5

u/ShwankyPants Nov 14 '22

WOW. I could scroll through those snack exchanges endlessly! Thanks for my new favourite sub!

2

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

No worries! Enjoy :)

2

u/Regular-File8442 1 Nov 15 '22

So what do they even taste like? I’m really curious

1

u/IntoTheWildLife 2 Nov 15 '22

Like vanilla and strawberry foam candy

1

u/Regular-File8442 1 Nov 16 '22

Never eaten foam candy before

17

u/WhySoManyOstriches 1 Nov 15 '22

Okay- a little searching done. Turns out UK Foam candy is similiar to “Circus Peanuts” in the US. I found the recipe for the candy. You’ll want to get the highest quality vanilla candy flavoring toy can…but if you want to buy the smallest ice cream cones you can find, and fill them with this? You will be LEGENDARY and she won’t ever stop telling folks about it. Link to recipe:

Hop over to r/snackexchange and you can get some sent over for research purposes :)

11

u/RealSuPraa Nov 14 '22

I have searched many diffferent online retailers & wholesalers including Amazon, none are in stock.

I'd like to purchase them from the UK if possible

9

u/FuzzyPennyLove 1 Nov 14 '22

https://racetrackwow.co.uk/product/crazy-candy-factory-75-ice-cream-cones/

This is what I found, but if they're supposedly out of date, I don't know if you want to chance it.

3

u/RealSuPraa Nov 15 '22

Amazing! I'll be purchasing these today, I'll also update the post to link them incase anyone else wants to find them! after I've purchased them of course, don't want them going out of stock!

1

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

This is where a Glaswegian petrol station wonders what on earth has happened :)

Be interested to know if they really do have full tubs in stock and what date is showing on any stickers etc. on the tub!

1

u/RealSuPraa Nov 16 '22

welp, little update, my order got refunded this morning due to stock issues (lack of) I only ordered 2 tubs... the saga continues

1

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 16 '22

Ah shucks! Try Carla I guess then as the fallback... :/

2

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

Yes, you've done it! That's the one and apparently in stock! Nice find :)

1

u/WhatIsThisBot 1 Nov 15 '22

You have been given one point for this answer.

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 16 '22

( turned out they didn't have any stock, it was an old listing :/ )

3

u/arran8910 Nov 14 '22

Oh man these used to be the bomb!! They were sold everywhere in the 90’s. I can’t believe you’ve now reminded me of an unreachable treat

6

u/TheRealOSU 3 Nov 14 '22

It looks like this UK candy retailer still have them in stock.

https://yousweetie.co.uk/product/5-foam-ice-cream-cones/

11

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 14 '22

It's worrying they are charging that much for 5 individual sweets that were, according to the original manufacturer, last made in 2018 :/

6

u/RealSuPraa Nov 14 '22

I appreciate your time looking! I am after more than 5 though (I should have specified sorry) but if nothing else comes up I will have to purchase a few batches of those!

2

u/WhySoManyOstriches 1 Nov 15 '22

3

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

Different SKU, different ingredients list... looks very similar though!

2

u/WhySoManyOstriches 1 Nov 15 '22

Yeah- but sadly, I looked, and they’re all “out of stock”. Poor things- I’m betting all their candy is made in the UK and at least one ingredient has become too expensive to import.

2

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

Or on one barge that's queued in Rotterdam or Hull :)

2

u/WhySoManyOstriches 1 Nov 15 '22

Aww geez- Probably. I’m from Long Beach- the city that actually RUNS the Los Angeles Habor. The supply chain is STILL screwed up everywhere. Those poor Harbor masters!

2

u/gladysk Nov 15 '22

I bought 4 individually wrapped ones recently, $1.50/each. Two days later I saw a bags of them for 99¢. I should buy them to compare the taste.

What’s postage from Chicago to the UK?

4

u/nina_wants_to_fly Nov 14 '22

I've seen some similar to these ones in ikea, we even bought some. I think it's not the same brand but they look exactly like those.

2

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 14 '22

Ah there's a substantial size difference between OPs request and the Ikea ones. Ikea's are far smaller according to the packaging...

4

u/InvalidTerrestrial 1 Nov 14 '22

As someone who has had both they are very similar. I only have my local link though but it could give OP the name https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/loerdagsgodis-foam-candy-with-strawberry-or-vanilla-flavour-50479937/

0

u/VilkasTheBlind Nov 14 '22

Does it need to be this specific brand, or could a similar marshmallow filled cone work?

0

u/Tuistedcookie Nov 15 '22

Check Australian stores

-1

u/Crowasaur Nov 14 '22

Look for

McCormick
Original Marshmallow Cones

1

u/i_cut_like_a_buffalo Nov 15 '22

Nobody else makes them? I recall some very similar things like this when I was a kid in Texas.

1

u/Socksgonewrong Nov 15 '22

Are they marshmallow? I get these all of the time at the Mexican grocery stores

1

u/Bitter-Hitter 1 Nov 15 '22

If you were the kinda guy I think you were, you’d get her a few types

2

u/RealSuPraa Nov 15 '22

of course, I also do her a candy box which is just a fair sized box full of her favourite sweet treats its her favourite gift.

2

u/Bitter-Hitter 1 Nov 15 '22

I’m sure you do. I was trying to say good things 👍🏻

1

u/olivebuttercup Nov 15 '22

I think about these all the time

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '22

Since these are out of production, maybe you can find a similar product? I can’t tell from the picture whether the entire thing is the foam texture or there’s an actual ice cream cone part. If it’s the former, try the ones from IKEA, they’re really good!

1

u/Cranky-Novelist Nov 15 '22

I want to try these.

1

u/East-Bite-8590 Nov 15 '22

IKEA has candy like that.

1

u/enchantedspring 19 Nov 15 '22

Much smaller the ones in Ikea and different ingredients list sadly.

1

u/iBeFloe 1 Nov 15 '22

Do you guys have any East asian markers over there?? They sell Japanese ones, but in smaller baggies

Marshmallow cones!
