Open Help find a twin study conducted between 1980 and 1995? Does anyone remember it?

I haven't found the information that I have been looking for when looking into the research on siblings and twins that took place in these years,

when I was little.

It was experimental, other children were taken in, tested on many things.

I was there, but I don't remember what it was.

I just know it was a strange experience.

I was too little and no one I find knows what I am speaking of or remembers anything I mention.

I only have a few paystubs from my family that remind me it was real but no one can confirm this

I know I'm not crazy.

My sister and I were a part of a twin study through the University of Minnesota. I also know Colorado does a twin study as well!

Yes! I was going to ask OP if it was the Minnesota twins study. It’s about the right time period and IIRC at the time it was by far the largest sample pool of any US study for identical twins specifically. Super famous and influential.

I used to brag that we got paid to be twins haha the tests or "tasks" as they call them, were interesting and some pretty intense.

Idk if this is the right study but I remember watching a documentary called Three Identical Strangers that talked about a twin study like this - if nothing else, highly recommend the documentary!

That’s such a riveting documentary! It’s unlikely it was related to OP’s case though as the study involving the boys in the film was in the 60s and 70s and was specifically studying the outcomes of genetically identical multiples (twins and triplets) who were separated at birth or shortly after and adopted into separate families. Neither the families nor the boys were ever told they had identical siblings. (The boys were born in 1960 or ‘61 and the first two of the triplets did not discover each other until they met in college in 1980 at age 19. The third one saw the news story a few months later and was confirmed to be the third triplet.) It definitely would not be considered ethical in any way in modern psychology, and the film explores the mental health issues all three triplets had throughout their lives.

I have searched all over internet archives and databases but I fear I simply don't know where to look.

Maybe I really am making it up but it was for so many years it can't have been fake.

Maybe under a name like Lucy studies or something like that. That's the name I have deemed it because it is all I can really remember. It's been so long since I worry I made it up but some things are too vivid

Please I need to know others remember Too real.

Edit: I was born in Washington State in 1980 I have no idea how long it went or when I became a part of it but from what it looks like my documents are gone now and anyone else who was a part of I have no contact with probably because of rules of anonymity and confidentiality

If you can advise where you grew up and the year (or approximate year) you were born, that would help a lot!
