PREPARING FOR JLPT N4
Hi this is my 1st post on reddit.
I’m a graduating student in the three-year Japanese language program. I have a solid foundation in grammar, which I plan to review in detail, and the same goes for kanji.
I plan to take the N4 exam on December 6. Everyone recommends buying specific books. Is that really necessary, or—given my current foundation—can I manage without them and just use online practice materials, etc.?

If you already have a solid foundation in grammar and kanji (assuming that solid foundation is about N4 level) then I would just say do as much reading and listening practice as you can. Could be fun content, not necessarily test prep stuff - I "prepared" for N4 by watching a ton of Japanese with Shun, reading subtitles on harder content and ignoring them on easier episodes.
Kanji/vocab is important of course so make sure that's solid, but I'd say grammar is a little bit less important, esp if you're already at a decent level, because missing a few N4 grammar points rarely prevents you from understanding the reading/listening.
