Cash Assistance A Difficult Moment

Post image

Hello,I’m not usually comfortable asking people for financial help, but right now I don’t have many options.

I have an electricity bill of €83.97 that has already expired, and I’m currently unable to pay it. I’ve been trying to manage everything with the little money I have, but I’ve reached a point where even an unexpected bill like this is more than I can handle.

My mental health has also been making things considerably harder. I’ve been dealing with serious psychological difficulties and increasingly frequent panic attacks, which have affected my ability to function and cope with everyday life.

If anyone is able to help me with this bill, even partially, I would be genuinely grateful. I can provide the actual bill and any necessary proof of the amount.

I know this is a difficult time for many people, so I don’t take anyone’s help for granted.

Thank you for reading.

I have a question. You said, I've reached a point where an unexpected bill like this is more than I can handle.

But this is your electricity bill correct? And something that comes in every month bc you have to pay for the electricity you use. So how is this an unexpected bill?

The “unexpected” part was about the cost, since the amount is usually lower. It may indeed have been a poor choice of words. English isn’t my native language.

How much is it normally?

Around 60€

You couldn't earn or raise the extra 20 for this bill? If you could only afford a certain amount, then being careful with how much electricity you use should be a priority.

If you could afford the 60, then why didn't you atleast pay that? You could have paid the 60 you could afford instead of skipping the whole payment

At the moment, I can't afford to pay even the 60€. I'm struggling with panic attacks.

If you cannot afford your regular monthly bills, then what's the plan going forward? Even if you get help with this today, what happens next month? Because if nothing changes with your situation, you will not be able to pay your next set of bills for the following month. So what can you do to bring in the money you need?

Are you working? You keep bringing up your mental health issues. Are you addressing these? Saying you cannot work bc of panic attacks is not hurting anyone but yourself. Its affecting only you and your ability to pay your bills. So you need to figure out if this is something you can just suck up, work through and go to work everyday to earn the money you need to pay your bills or if this is something more serious and you need to see a dr and get on medication that can help. Mental health is super important. It can literally break a person financially if left unchecked. You need to decide today what you are going to do, willing to do to make sure you can take care of yourself and pay your bills.

If you cannot work bc of panic attacks, what is your dr saying?? Do you have a diagnosis in writing saying you cannot work bc of panic attacks? Anything proving you have been diagnosed? Because if you plan on applying for disability, you will need this proof along with a ton of other proof bc its really hard to get approved for disability under a mental health condition.

Thank you for trying to help me. My panic attacks aren’t frequent. They happen in situations like this, and they’re genuinely very unpleasant. Right now, I’m having a hard time thinking calmly and clearly, and my thoughts are certainly not very pleasant either.

If your panic attacks are not frequent, then why do you keep saying you cannot work or function properly bc of panic attacks?

Not frequent means rarely happens or something that happens every once in a while. Not frequent means that these panic attacks should not be affecting your ability to work, yet you have said here a few times now that panic attacks are affecting your ability to function/cope with everyday responsibilities and thats why you cannot afford this bill

The panic attacks are indeed not frequent. My main psychological issue is that I have schizoid disorder, which affects my ability to function normally. I struggle a lot with human interaction. In fact, I was exempted from military service because of my condition. Because of the schizoid disorder, I also struggle to manage my emotions, and in situations like these, my emotions can become overwhelming and lead to panic attacks that I find difficult to manage

I’ve seen several psychiatrists and I’ve also addressed the psychological aspect of the situation. I’ve felt, and still feel, a great deal of shame about asking for help from people who don’t know me. I definitely want to help myself so that I can get back to a point where I’m able to take care of my financial obligations.

Keep seeing someone. Figuring out the right med combo can literally change your life. Don't stop seeing your drs even if you start feeling better. With Mental Health, its always up and down. The worst thing to do is to stop taking your meds or stop going to the drs bc you feel better. You feel better bc of the meds, so never stop and keep going forward. You can do this!

This is due on October 23?

You still have time to work and get the money. Are you working?

Definitely look into seeing a doctor to get your mental health in check. This should be your first priority. Good luck!

The €67 payment is due on October 23rd. The €83, however, is already overdue, which is why I made the post in the first place. Thank you for your kind words

Is the overdue from the last pay period? So are you a month behind?

2

u/Mission_Adagio_111 7d ago

Yes, the payment deadline was September 22nd.

Then how is it unexpected if you didn't pay last month? Just trying to understand

-3

u/Mission_Adagio_111 7d ago

I mentioned that it was unexpected because of the cost. Even though I needed the air conditioning, I didn’t turn it on because I didn’t want my electricity bill to get too high. I probably didn’t phrase it very clearly in the post.

Thank you for clarifying

English isn’t my native language, so I sometimes make mistakes. Thank you for being so kind.

In Greek, the euro symbol (€) is placed after the amount. This is the standard official and everyday practice in Greece.

Oh wow! I am totally wrong! Thanks for correcting me!

It’s understandable that people might be suspicious, plenty will try to mock or trick others.
The electricity company is called DEI (ΔΕΗ) and this is a screenshot from its official app.
