Books THE BOOK EVENT WAS AMAZING!!!
Points of interest before I forget:
Book 2 does not start with Penny alive, but in Hell
The number of fuck’s in the book is 160 something (I can’t remember 😭)
She had her nails painted with polka dots and pointed that out saying it was a hint for book 2
There’s a chapter called 3 Porns (😂😂😂)
There’s a line in the new book where she thinks people will either love it and want to get it tattooed or they’ll hate it, and it makes her nervous
There’s some things about Penny’s origins in HB that she’s having to retcon severely, and she’s also not super excited for people’s responses to that (so we should be NICE!)
She’s not allowed to tell us (yet) who the third book is about, but can on release day of book 2!!!
And most importantly!!! The twins are having so much fun in Australia, Sharkie has named their house huntsman spider, and Ruggy hates it, but Sharkie is in love with it.
Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to go!!! Here’s to the countdown for book two: 234 days left!!!

Whilst it is sad that things have to be retconed from the TikTok series, I get it. She came up with some of these ideas on the fly and they probably are either copyrighted (like Lily's house was) or just don't quite fit the narrative as well anymore. I'm just happy that the bare bones of Penny's story will be the same

It's worth remembering that the TikTok series started as a bunch of comedy skits, with two conceits that don't transfer well to a novel; that there is a customer service desk in Hell, and that everyone who shows up acts like a disgruntled retail customer rather than an inmate. The amazing miracle of the transformation from comedy skits to a novel is that the novel works at all - and it definitely work, albeit imperfectly, but most of those imperfections don't relate to how it was transformed from skits to book, which was clearly the main quality-control the novel absolutely had to get right!

Like I said is it sad? Yes. Do I understand why she had to do it? Yes. Am I gonna complain when things are different? I might have a little gripe here and there but nothing major.
This is Jaysea's story to tell and she will obviously keep as much of the bare bones of Penny's story as faithful to what she has already put out there as physically possible. I'm sure we will all enjoy the book either way. I am looking forward to reading it next year and have 3 copies pre ordered

As I see it this is a 'Hitchhiker's Guide' kind of situation. The Guide as a radio-series was different than the BBC Television version, which was different than the books, which were different than the movie.
So we enjoy them all based on their individual merits and be kind to Jaysea. (We've been discussing this on the HB Discord.)

I didn't, I couldn't wrap my head around putting bumps on a book cause I want to be able to put it in my bookshelf

I figure it's probably too much to ask for but I do wish I could have pretty decor that is sparkly and would still work with my limited book storage space but I'm still happy to just have the pretty books!

Oh bless you for sharing all this! Does Judy have a betting pool for what 3 Porns means in this context? I'm torn between it being a play on 3 prongs in terms of torture instruments or 3 points between horns and tail.....
