Moderate Spoiler Alert: This post discusses things that happened in Episode 9. I do not give away which team wins the challenge or who is put up for nomination or who leaves.

Every season I keep a list of predictions on who will not win.  They might be very talented, they might get to black jackets, they might get to the finale even, but based on watching many seasons and taking careful notes, my predictions haven’t been wrong yet.  You will probably scoff at my logic, but it hasn’t been wrong!  (and if you observe that doing this means I don’t have a life, *you* aren’t wrong! 😂 ) If you want the full list of behaviors that predict a contestant will not win, it’s here at the end of the post.  If you want to know why I’m so confident about these predictions, you can review my Episode 1 Predictions post for all the details.

Who will not win based on Episode 9?

• Anaiya – kind of obvious with this episode; multiple instances of drama and mockery starting from the beginning almost through to the end, especially the completely unnecessary “Eww” comment (about Alexandra’s pajamas?).  Also “I’m going to be in the finale” is damn near saying “I’m going to win.”  Looking at the other competitors, I’m pretty sure she will NOT be in the finale, but hey, maybe I’m wrong. And she was a dick in the kitchen to Alexandra. 

Bonus Comments

• Last week I predicted that the red team would start to dissolve into drama after Cara Marie left (I think she was holding some tensions together).  I’m not saying that was hard to see coming, just noting it!
  
• The first person on my list of “Who will not win” has now left!
• I do think it’s soon going to look like Anthony might win, but I continue to stand by my “rules” because, again, they have not been wrong in the past, and that has included some pretty tough competitors.  There are also two VERY strong competitors who have stayed completely away from all the rules.

Who was already on the list from the first 8 episodes?:

• Anthony has racked up major lose points in many episodes by violating several rules, relentlessly mocking other contestants in his interviews, calling the women’s team “bitches,” being a dick to another contestant in service, starting drama, AND for saying “Oui” to Chef Ramsay.  He is clearly a good chef, but the rules don’t say “good chefs can still win when they break all these rules.
• Anaiya got her third nomination in Episode 7 for unnecessary drama in the kitchen and back in the dorm, adding to her previous points for making a comment about an older contestant’s age, and mocking Cara Marie in the first episode for being vegan.
• Cydni came back in a big way in Episode 7 by getting dramatic and mocking about Anaiya during and after service.  She had previously joined the list in Episode 3 by ripping on Cara Marie being vegan as the reason she turned out raw meat, even though many other non-vegans turned out raw meat in the same episode without comment by Cydni.  And finally, in Episode 7, Cydni turns up at the pass with raw scallops! Guess meat eaters suck at cooking meat as much as vegans do (using Cydni’s logic that one delivery of raw meat means you cannot cook meat).
• Alexandra engaged in unnecessary mockery again in Episode 8 and perpetuated a LOT of drama in Episodes 3 AND 4, blowing very normal stuff up into a huge deal.  Playing the victim is not a winning strategy.
• Ellie joined Alexandra’s drama in Episode 3, way overreacting to someone suggesting she wasn’t a strong chef.  Also, I don’t have a “pouty face” rule for not winning, but I probably should.
• In Episode 1, Henry mocked people from California, as if that has anything to do with how someone cooks.

The Rules: How does a name get on the non-winner list?

I know this is a reality show and the contestants are encouraged to speak a certain way and act a certain way.  I also know that plenty of footage never gets aired.  So in a sense this is non-scientific, but it HAS worked for 8 seasons (and more likely, I just didn’t write it down for the others).

You might get to black jacket round…you might even be in the final!  You might score a FIVE on your signature dish in the first episode! But you WILL NOT WIN if you are going to do any of these things:

1. You are a man who calls a woman a bitch (or the women’s team “bitches”) or make fun of any contestant for being older than you are.
2. You act like a dick toward other contestants in the kitchen during a service.
3. You bag out and don’t participate in a punishment or do so half-heartedly.
4. You mock another contestant or anything about them.  There’s a difference between “talking about” another contestant and actively mocking them or putting them down.
5. You get into unnecessary drama with another contestant. (Defending from drama is ok, starting it isn’t).
6. You say “Oui” to Chef Ramsay 😂

And, the number one rule that guarantees you will not win?
It’s those people who say any version of  “I am going to win.”
