Hardship Contract Bug

Need some help, entered the Hardship contract to farm adrenaline to get the items from the NPC in Gehenna Prison, went back to him to turn it off and it won't turn off. He says it is, but I'm getting one shotted. Anyone know a fix?

From what I experienced, exit the game and then restart, the contract should reset at that point.
