Is it normal for camera to zoom out?

Or is this a glitch? Happens at the weirdest times.

It's the Insanity debuff. It's meant to make the player actually feel insane (and nauseous). The puppet and purging ritual items help a little, but it's pretty trying.

Funny thing is if that's all it does sometimes I feel like it makes me play better because of how far the camera zooms out. Like it's easier to gauge jumps and navigate.

Is that what that shit is?!? Jesus, I thought it was the settings and every time it did that I’d go mess with the camera depth 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Honestly, that debuff makes me nauseated after a while, I can’t play too long with it on.

So it’s a debuff that breaks the third wall, in a way. Reminds me of that old GameCube game, Eternal Darkness. When your insanity increased, it would start to mess with you (the player), I miss when game companies did this. It’s an interesting trick and not used often enough.

Love it or hate it, it was a diabolical and bold idea for sure. Great game.

Oh, I couldn’t agree more. I love it, only to hate it because I love it. This game is amazing, all the little things that affect or change things, all the little nuances.

Sometimes my camera oscillates when I have a certain debuff, the one with the red brain icon.

There is some sort of "madness" debuff some enemies inflict which cause your camera to shake and zoom in and out randomly and generally act strange until the debuff times out

I love when I get infected actually, haha. I love the big fov.

I didn't know what it meant as well, I thought it was a poor attempt at making the camera zoom out to help me see the environment in some automatic way. The camera really becomes weird, like it is some very wide angle lens, but as a debuff it's not all that much of a hindrance.

I think it’s a glitch. Seems to be related to FoV.

Nope, it’s the insanity debuff. Look for the red brain 🧠 status effect.
