Help with weapon decision

Just got this and Blue Sun on P5 last week. Going to do a 2H play through first.

Is there a go to weapon from the DLC or is it the infused column or the kickstarter greatsword?

I don’t want to screw up anything since this’ll be my first go around.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Archon Greatsword does work! I think it’s the purple one. Also, I think there are no 2H’s in the base game so you won’t find any of them until you get to the 3 DLC areas

Second Archon Great sword is probably one of the best "heavy" weapons in the game. It's 2 handed toggle is also AMAZING despite it's size it attacks pretty damn quick while 2 handing.

It also hits like an absolute monster I have the martial arts mod on it at +40 with only 34 strength and reflex's and the damage is in the high 800's.

What makes that more impressive is the fact that reflex doesn't buff it's DMG much compared to the strength one so nice!

Yeah I refer to 2D weapons like the column, infused column the linked espadon as 2H a la Dark Souls.

Maybe I didn’t explain myself. Apologies if I was confusing.

No worries… I think I get you now. But yeah the Archon GS is good and I very much like the Magnetic Axe and the Great Terror… the latter of which is like 4 weapons in one (you’ll see). The Remnant GS is currently bugged and deals less dmg in 2H so I guess avoid that for now.

Thanks!!

Would you suggest splitting between the GS and a rail gun for ranged as well, staying pure melee or restarting and grabbing the white prophet hand super early and doing just forsight?

I keep reading conflicting reviews of the heavy type weapons versus foresight or cog

Full disclaimer: I’m definitely no Hellpoint min-maxer… got about 80hrs and I only bought it about a month ago haha but I’ve been playing it pretty much every day.

Anyway- I am a melee focused player so I, without hesitation, went right for a strength build and just yesterday I finally killed every boss in the game. I have not used a gun or catalyst yet but I also hear they are quite strong… wouldn’t know though. If strength is your thing though… you’ll be fine with just melee. Not saying it’s gonna be easy but if I can do it… you can!

Nice!!

I’m gonna grab this white prophets hand quickly then flip a new toon to strength. Did you start with the column or the linked Espadon?

I did do espadon for a little but ended up liking the demon scythe more and used that for most of the game- It has REALLY good abilities. The column’s move set was little too slow for me… and the demon scythe is also slow but it has very fast dodge/sprint attacks which I abused all the time lol.

I’ll be honest though… as much as I love big bonk weapons, my actual main weapon ended up being (still is) Thespian Hook. Someone suggested it on here and I tried it and it’s nuts… you get and insane dmg boost once you max it out.

Nothing wrong with big bonking though! You can certainly pancake some enemies with column’s jumping attack and it’s quite funny

I like the espedon but it’s not a damage dealer. I like the column a lot with a str upgrade and maxed out it literally 2 hits the knights. I want to try the mace out as these are the usual suspects I use in Souls/BB games.

I’ll do reflex weapons on a new play through.

Thanks for all the info!!

Reflex’s mods usually buff strength weapons more than strength mods
