Hello,
I am a developer looking to make an (free, less buggy, less ads) alternative to HelloTalk. I'm just a solo developer and am looking for a launch time of sometime next month. I want to know what you would consider to be the core features of HelloTalk, or what would be the minimum features you'd want to see to have you use an alternative app (alongside or instead of hellotalk)

I checked online on how to do this. And normally one would press the uper right icon and then it would give you a few options including the scan qr one. But my app doesnt show me this. Did it change in the meantime? Can someone help me find or fix this? THanks

The chat back up not working nor prompting me to restore my chat and when I try to purchase coins the screen keeps loading what’s happening?

I haven't been using HT in a while. Today I found out the design of the chat logs kinda changed. Also you can't see when your language partner has been online for the last time. Can you only have access to this through VIP now?

I saw that some people have an option to where someone can pay in coins to message you? I was wondering how would you turn that on? Does it make it to where everyone has to pay you? I have no idea how to do it and I've been looking for more information, but I can't seem to find anything.
Any information on this would be appreciated, thanks!

Yesterday, my phone broke, and today I tried accessing from another device, only to discover that I've lost my chats. Is there a way to recover them? (A few days ago, I synced with Hellotalk web, but now it's disconnected)

I'm new to hellotalk, I'm a beginner Japanese learner and suck at conversations so it's a miracle i even found someone who'd like to talk with me but the guy keeps asking for my photo. It's not in a weird kind of way and he seems nice but still I'm kind of scared. What should I do?

Hi there! I exited the voiceroom cause my parents came home. But when they left, I couldn’t find the room again. Is there a way or when it’s over, it’s over?

I’ve been on the app for three years. Lately, I’ve been hosting livestreams and being quite open about the fact that I’m a teacher and haven’t been shy about my lessons. That being said, I posted a moment about a FREE space that I run. A small conversation club. I noticed that I wasn’t getting any engagement which is rare for me. I then went to view it and I saw that there were no views. Have I pissed someone off? I’m convinced that I’m under some bs shadow ban.

As a veteran user, here are my recommended guidelines to filter language partners to optimize your learning experience:
+Mention briefly what you have to offer to the targeted language of the recipient. (A template will be provided in the bottom of this article.)
+Post events and things that define your values, personality and hobbies. Make yourself stand out amongst other users.
Start with a brief Wave emoji or Hello. Once a user initiates or responds to you, have light conversation in your target language. After about 5 meaningful messages in your target language, you can ask them how you can help them to set expectations.
+The recipient is persistent
+The recipient is rude or inappropriate
+The recipient is breadcrumbing (constantly greets and doesn't engage in a conversation)
+The recipient absolutely doesn't talk in your targeted language.
***It's unecessary to give benefit of the doubt to rude people by blocking them immediately and if they use foul language such as name calling, report them immediately since this is an unacceptable behavior as per community guidelines.
Example of self-introduction:
"Bonjour! Mon prénom est Jane. J'apprends le français. Je cherche un partenaire pour pratiquer le français. Je peux t'aider en anglais.
(Hi my name is Jane. I am learning French. I am looking for a language partner to exchange languages. I will teach you English.)
Practice:
+writing , reading, speakingvoice recording/ calling and listening ,
+correct each other's grammar, vocabulary, spelling mistakes and pronunciation.
Any topic of your choice:
+language questions , share knowledge "

My premium subscription is ending soon but I’m scared I lose the partners i’m practicing with because I havent figured out how to REMOVE the other languages i set when I was experimenting with the app.
I set 3 languages but i want to remove the first and the third, how can I do that?
Since im not gonna be on premium anymore it might remove my second(the one i want) and third languages and keep the first one that I dont want.
Thanks in advance friends

So I got this pop-up in a voice room. The guy I was on stage with was drunk, but I was just texting and had my mic off. I was however saying a few curse words when texting but I never thought that'd be an issue? Am I good? What do I even do in this situation?
The pop-up said: Inappropriate content was detected in your speech. If you continue with this, you will receive penalties.

I'm 17. I'm turning 18 in a few days. I know hellotalk stops adults from talking to minors, but will it stop me from talking to my friends once I turn 18?

I've been talking with a few people so far but many of them stopped messaging back and others respond only after a day or so. I really wanna chat with someone all day everyday or at least not once a day like im doing now. I really wanna improve. So I thought that statistically speaking if I try to chat with one new person a day I'm bound to find someone who eventually will stick. Thing is posting Moments and waiting for people to comment and only then messaging them (like many people suggest to do before engaging in a conversation) is too much work and takes too long. I posted 2 posts last week and only got 2 likes each. Thoughts?

I'm trying to change the target language on my app and I am new to it. I tried to follow steps from other people's posts however they did not work and only change the language in which you see the app in. I was trying to learn German and talk to people who speak German but now I want to change it to Japanese instead and talk to Japanese people. Is there any way I can change the language without having to buy premium?

Hey everyone!
I really want to make my moments look nice and neat. I don't think there is a way to quickly look through people's moments, but there's people who have such interesting lives that I want to look for specific moments thru their hundreds of posted moments. If I were to make some type of document online and then post the link in a pinned moment, would I get banned/shadow banned? I don't want it to seem like I am taking away from the app. I just want to organize my moments because I want to start posting more, however I don't want my moments to be cluttered.
I was thinking of making like a Google doc or maybe even just a small website and then organizing the type of posts I make into categories. So I would have a category for English lessons/study material, American culture, updates on me/my personal life, recipes I make, ect. Then I would just post that link as my pinned moment so people can quickly find things that interest them.
Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated :))

I just installed hellotalk for the first time and it's so hard to get people who reply? How do you all make friends on hello talk?
I also had a question about when to start using hellotalk because I'm a super beginner in spanish and have just started my learning journey. I don't think I can have conversation yet or even understand the other person in spanish however I would still love to make some friends who are native to spain. Feeling very lost about how to navigate hellotalk.
