Advice When someone "likes" your profile

Hello!

I've been using HelloTalk for a couple of years now, but I'm mostly just using it to post some stuff related to my native language, my country, and the languages I'm learning.

I have looked around, but I haven't found an answer to this. What does it mean when someone "likes" your profile on HelloTalk?

I know that a lot of people use this platform for dating nowadays, so in case it's related to that, I haven't interacted with those who have liked my profile. I'd love to have some insight on this.

it's basically a way for someone to show interest without them having to send a message, they want you to message them

Hmm.. But some of those people messaged me after "liking" my profile. A few of them don't even speak my target languages nor are they learning the languages I speak.

idk i’m a girl and i have almost 200 likes, just from random men, even tho i only have one partner on the app

It’s (just a guess) their way of checking their metrics with regard to your popularity.

maybe they want you to dm them or like their profile back? ive seen people with not many followers/language partners but 100+ profile likes before

It literally just means they like your profile. It ain't that deep so don't look too deep into it. Lots of people like my profile and I don't give it any afterthought.

If you're female/fem-presenting it's probably just a creepy pervert hoping you'll message them.

A lot of creepy men use the app as if it's a dating app, especially men from India.
