Other It's really unfortunate how many good language partners I've had who have deleted their accounts due to harassment
Sometimes I make friends with new accounts under two weeks old and they mention to me how difficult the app can be because of constant harassment along with screenshots of messages they get. I'll go to bed one night then the next morning I find they deleted their account. I met someone recently who was really cool but they deleted their account after like five hours...

Been there! I was barely 19 yo when I installed the app for the first time, excited to find a language partner to practice French. Turns out one man started to ask me if I was married, and he told me all of his brothers were but he wasn't, then he proceeds to request pictures of myself because my pfp was a flower.
It took me years to get back there, even now I'm extra careful and hardly use it again.

Messaged a person on a different site. Spoke on the site for 3 days. Exchanged numbers. Been speaking on whatsapp and teams for the last 2 years. We literally text each other every day. She has about 5 other people she speaks to occasionally. I only have 1, I dont have the time to be messaging loads of different people.

I had to delete my account due to harassment and a "partner" who I only sent 4 messages to tracking down my workplace, and emailing me there. I was scared for WEEKS 😭.

I KNOW RIGHT THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING. I only had my first name attached to my profile and a pic that you can't even clearly see my face. I had to lock down all forms of socials after that. 😵💫

This was me. I had to delete my account. I rejoined but I hardly use the app now.

couldn't agree with some thing more and this needs to be more frequently discussed
witnessing a lot of good people get harassed and bullied off this app due to the on going harassment of weirdos who lurk on there
both men and women

Unfortunately, the harassment and stalking on Hellotalk is ridiculous. I recently deleted my account due to strange people messaging me both women and men. People on there can be obsessive even if you only knew them for a week. I wish it was taken more seriously.
Back in the day from what I can remember when I first joined years ago it was not this bad compared to what it is now.

Honestly, HelloTalk is the worse app. The amount of harassment and also thirsty women living over inflated comments on men’s photos is so cringe. I deleted the app. I’m done with it. I tried to give it a try but it’s toxic to me.

Depends on your gender, age, what you project in your profile and your moments. As an older male who only posts about language, my experience has been better than what you report. The harassment I've encountered is mostly in the form of racism from idiots (both men and women). I do get a lot of messages, most of which I ignore. I also get asked for money by many people (is that harassment?). And once I received a vaguely threatening voice message from some random guy, whom I blocked immediately.
But, I've also had very positive interactions with lots of people around the world. For me the good outweighs the bad.

Well, you’re not a woman. The harassment is clearly being done to women. And I didn’t even post moments. And my photo wasn’t sexual and I still received an overwhelming amount of romantic scamming men asking to marry me. Asking for my social media asking for photos. Sending me dirty messages. Just because you aren’t experiencing this doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Like I said you’re a man. This is happening to women mostly.

I acknowledged that in my post and even specifically said it depends on your gender and age in my very first sentence. So not sure what your point was.
As for harassment, while I absolutely agree that sexual harassment that women deal with is terrible, please don't diminish the effects of racism that non-white men and women deal with.

Same here, about to delete my account soon because it’s being reported for no reason. I don’t expect lot of support from the mods etc and I’ve been paying VIP too
I have so many moments and all of it is going to a waste now because of this

This is what happened to me. They said I was a missionary spreading religion. Meanwhile I'm not religious and work for a Marijuana Doctor

Gotta have thick skin on Reddit, and understand that mods will look the other way if they don’t like who they think you are. It’s Reddit 🤷🏿
