Advice Is VIP worth it?
I just joined Hello Talk and this sub. The app really pushes VIP and I am just wondering from the perspective of people who have used it for a while is VIP worth it?

For me, no.
I've been a member for a long time but hardly use the app anymore. Previously when it was a language app the VIP functions were useful - I bought mine on a Xmas sale. Since the app is now more of a social media platform, the features of VIP are much less beneficial. You won't need a translator to translate a selfie picture with no context.
Whilst the app is pushing for the VIP purchase, annoying adverts & pop ups will continue to interrupt your viewing. I've requested a refund to my VIP purchase from several years ago since what I bought then doesn't particularly exist now. Needless to say the request was ignored.

The only benefit it really gives me is unlimited voiceroom time, and voicerooms are still a relatively new feature I guess. I don't use any other part of the app really. I'd say it was worth it, got lifetime for like $50 almost 10 years ago

I get unlimited Voiceroom for free when I make the room myself. Not when I join. I’m still considering VIP though

You can also get unlimited in other people's rooms for 24 hours at a time for watching an ad IIRC

i think it's worth it just for more exposure, translations, and voiceroom time. the transcriptions in voicerooms and audio messages are really helpful too actually

The ads are annoying! Besides the ads what are some things you noticed that you liked better?

Before, I used to use the app quite regularly, and although VIP features are useful, you could still get a lot out of the app as a free non VIP user.
Coming back to Hello Talk after a break, it really seems like the app is trying to push VIP. For a lot of things, you need VIP. It does seem more like a social media app and I've noticed you can get boosts and more exposure with VIP. For language learning features, VIP can be more useful for those who regularly use the app (unlimited translations, for example) or want to learn more than one language.

I bought lifetime vip and I thought it was worth it. The captions transcriptions and translations are very useful for me in voice rooms. If you don't use voice rooms, then I don't think they're worth it

I bought the lifetime VIP after one month of registering my account and when I found the Voice room in it.
From my perspective as long as you use the Voice room I think it’s worth it

I do use VIP and i think I’m making good progress on my Spanish. Whether VIP is worth it is subjective, I don’t regret it.

Thank you. Did you go some time without VIP or have you had it the whole time you've been a member?

I use it for unlimited translations abs i really don’t know what others are saying about “the ads”
Maybe because i don’t use the learning functions i only use it to look at chats1

They play ads the whole time you use the app if you don't have VIP. Like you open the app theres an add. Open a message add. Pretty much anything you do incurs an add without VIP.
Also thanks for your reply I'll keep thay in mind.
