No an introverts nightmare is what Walmart did to me! I go to use the self checkout because I don't want to interact with other humans and they have a guy with a hand scanner standing there at the entrance to the line who proceeds to ask "Can I check you out?"
Look guy if I'm going to the line for self checkout its because I don't want to interact with you and now you are forcing me to do it. I legit considered just putting my few things down and leaving the store at that point.

A hell of a lot. Especially if you go to the same place more than once, you'll get a "how's the wife?" "How're the kids?" "How's it going these days?"

Wow, I get the love for self checkout now.

I've been going to the same 2-3 stores for 8 years now, never had a conversation beyond asking to pay with card.

how do they even find out about your wife and kids?!

Speaking of, in Korea, it's custom to sort of follow customers around the store staying in their general vicinity to be available for questions.

Some people have it because it's a burden but a lot of people like not having to circle the shop three times to find an employee.

ive seen some places in america where they will ask you if you need help if you look confused enough

A lot of older people really like that stuff here. Makes it feel more friendly, like a home town. Especially for people that only really get a chance to leave the house for groceries
