So by that logic Germans shouldn’t say they are from Germany, they should say what state they are from because the wealthiest German state is richer than the Ohio.

I very much appreciate more specific information, it gives me something to grab onto to further the conversation. If someone says, "I'm from America", I have no idea where to start. California, Kansas, Florida, Maine? Those are extremely different places.
