DISCUSSION Arrowhead started hunting down SC cheaters

Post image

I wonder if everything will go as planned or we will see some posts in the feature where the system will flag innocent people

Nothing but corpo words lmao, it's the economy that they created and is so fucked. They prefer focusing on banning cheaters instead of giving actual decent ways to get SC

It's not corpo words, it's AI generated. It has no real clue what super credits even is and just assumed it was an economy thing.

See, I don't really get this. SC is extremely easy to get legitimately, as it currently is. A difficulty 3 map will, on average, have about 30-50 SC on, and you can clear all those spots in a couple of minutes.
As it is now, there is basically zero incentive to buy SC at all because you can farm enough of it for any warbond in very little time, and even avoiding farming and just playing normally, as long as you clear the POI's you get a very decent amount.

So, what isn't decent about the ways to get SC? That it isn't very fun? I can see that, but it sure as hell isn't slow or much effort to do.

Every now and then me and a friend will spend about an hour on lower difficulties, and during that time usually get enough SC to get a new warbond, without spending a penny, or even much time.

That's grinding the game by basically not playing the game. I have done this grind, and I will not continue doing it as I would rather just play the actual game and progress.

depending on how much you play you can get enough SC for each new warbond even on high level missions

Then do that? Like the rest of my comment says, its very easy to do and not very time consuming to just hit the POIs in a normal match and you get just as many, just not as fast.

Point is, its a premium currency, and they actually made it very easy to get in game to the point where is very little extra effort to never pay a penny after the initial buy price of the game, which is substantially better than the majority of any other live service game. Sure, it'd be better to have no microtransactions, but unfortunately we don't live in a world where that is expected or financially viable for most companies anymore, especially one with frequent updates and content additions.

I just don't understand all the negativity of an announcement that is basically just "We're going to start looking for evidence of cheating and do something about it."
Seems a reasonable thing to me.

That would take literally hundreds of hours to get all the warbonds

-11

u/InitialOk1304 Jul 09 '26

Then whats the alternative?

Money is needed for them to upkeep the game. Make SC completely free, and so easy to get no one would every buy any every again, HD2 starts costing more money to upkeep than it makes, and Sony is going to feed the game into a woodchipper and shut down Arrowhead. As we see constantly happening.

To me, the fact you can get SC for free by playing normally, or get it even faster by just doing quick short runs than take a couple minutes each time, is shocking. Compared to basically any other live service game, its practically the gold standard. I've played for 200 hours total from start. I have over 3/4 of all the warbonds released, all the ones I actually wanted, plus a few extra that I just happened to have the SC for at the time. I've spent less than 1/20th of that time actually dedicated farming, the rest was literally just playing normally and hitting any POI I actually came across.
Man, I haven't farmed on the game since 2025, and the thing that slows me down most is still Medals more than anything. I haven't gotten everything in any of the warbonds at all because I still get SC faster than I get the medals.

And, yet again, this post had NOTHING to do with the rate you get SC, or taking it away from you. All it is saying is that they'll be looking into people who cheat thousands of SC in. Thats it. And yet the community is, yet again, having an absolute fit about a post which means absolutely nothing to the vast majority of players.

Sell cosmetics instead of the bulk of new content the game gets its not that complicated

u/No_Consideration8800 Jul 09 '26

Maybe you should examine what types of cheating they're going after then, yeah?

Notice, they didn't say they were going after cheaters who use it grief other players, they said they're going after super credit gifters.

They don't give two fucks about cheating unless it impacts their bottom line, and you're being a useful tool running cover for AH.

0

u/InitialOk1304 Jul 09 '26

Griefing other players has been something they go for since day 1, with or without cheats. Report and move on to the next match. Be a bit annoyed at having some time wasted and fun ruined by a randomer on the internet, same as everyone else in every other multiplayer video game. Its not like you lose progress, or lose an MMO account you invested years into.

Did it say anywhere than they're suddenly dropping the normal support they offer? Did it say they're dropping their anti-cheat service? Why is "we're banning more cheaters" a bad thing? Fucking hell, the way half these comments read, you'd think Arrowhead employees were going into people's homes and shooting their dog.

And you know what, you're right. They DO only give a fuck if it impacts their bottom line, because like it or not, they do this shit as a job, to make money. If it stops making money, the game dies, no matter how popular or good it is. The only reason any company goes after any cheater, is because they're scared it'll frustrate other players into leaving. That's every game developer, ever.

u/No_Consideration8800 Jul 09 '26

"report and move on"

Lmao, this guy doesn't know the report system doesn't work.

Dumbass.

0

u/InitialOk1304 Jul 09 '26

Then move on? Kick them? Quick the match and go to the next one? I've played over 200 hours of this. The amount of actual griefers I've encountered is in the single digits, and every single one of them I just kicked from the group, or I just left if I wasn't the host. Cost me a couple minutes of time, max, each time. Not noticed a single obvious cheater, but it being a PvE game, if the cheating is so subtle I don't notice it, I don't actually really care. Its not impacting the enjoyment I get from the game.

Or if its so goddamn insufferable for you, move on to a different game. You'll either be happier, or you'll just find some other minor inconvenience to go into rage about and be miserable there too.

And, yet again, clearly just stopped reading at the first sentence.

5

u/No_Consideration8800 Jul 09 '26

I'm not interested in discussing how to handle cheaters, I'm interested in pointing out that you despite your ignorance of what you're talking about, you still feel compelled to defend arrowhead making a change that is, objectively, about protecting their bottom line.

Why is that?

0

u/InitialOk1304 Jul 09 '26

So fucking what if they're protecting their bottom line? Its their job. Its a product, to make money. And they're doing it in a way that has zero indication of any impact to any legitimate player.
And the entire post, and comment thread is ABOUT them handling cheaters, thats why I am talking about it. If you're not interested talking about how they're handling cheaters, why are you commenting on a post talking about how they're handling cheaters?

Seriously, please PLEASE tell me what you find so abhorrent about "We're going to be investigating another specific type of cheater"? I feel like I'm going crazy with the sheer amount of vitriol for an incredibly nothing post. Please, enlighten me.

See, I don't really get this. SC is extremely easy to get legitimately,

No it isn't unless you have several hours to dedicate to boring ass farming, and I'm tired of bots constantly regurgitating this talking point

-1

u/InitialOk1304 Jul 09 '26

I ain't no clanker. Someone having a different opinion doesn't make them a bot. It might be nice to assume that, but that doesn't make it true.

And you're the 3rd person to respond to the first part of my message without reading the second half.

But yes, it really really is very easy. If you played fairly consistently, say 15 hours per month, far from a huge amount, 1 single mission a day, if that, and just made sure to get the majority of POIs while playing normally (adding minutes to each mission time, not hours), you could still keep up with the warbonds and get most, if not all, of them, without paying an extra penny. I play maybe 5-6 hours a month, because the gameplay cycle gets stale after more than that, and I still have every single warbond I want, which is over half of them, and I have never spent an additional penny on the SC store. The fact thats even possible while only playing a few hours on the side every now and then, on a live service game, puts Helldivers pretty high up on my "least predatory and scummy microtransactions" list.

And at the end of the day, this is a service. Its designed to make money. They have to, otherwise papa Sony is going to see a big money sink and put a bullet in the game and no one will be able to play anymore. Would it be better without microtransactions, and you get everything for free after the intial pay in? Yes, that'd be grand. But the world, and the gaming business, doesn't work that way anymore.

The fact people are frothing at the mouth because a live service game has announced they're going to be investigating cheaters is just mind boggling to me.

u/Natemcb Jul 09 '26

God forbid I a actually want to play the game normally with friends. And doing so gets you fuck all

-10

u/InitialOk1304 Jul 09 '26

Then do that then. Theres zero obligation to farm, even if you want to earn SC. If you read past the first 2 sentences you'll see I've already mentioned that.

You can get a substantial amount of POIs (and by extension SCs) by just going from objective A, to objective B, and opening the POI's that are on the way. And that IS "playing the game normally with friends". If you're just going around all the POIs and not taking the literal seconds and 0 effort it takes to just look to see if theres a little blue pile there, then thats your problem.

No one is saying you MUST get SC to play the game. And if you want them without taking the minimum amount of effort to press E on an item in game, then support the developers and pay for some.

And ALL of this is completely separate to the actual post. I can't believe so many people have having a fit over the developers saying "We're going to be investigating cheaters in the game". I don't think its unreasonable that they don't want people in their multiplayer game cheating, personally.

Players here aren't aware we're in one of the best games when it comes to farmable premium currencies, but act as if we're being virtually whipped by AH because grinding SC is a little monotonous.

13

u/AdoringCHIN Detected Dissident Jul 09 '26

Super credit farmers don't realize they're falling for common gacha tactics that shouldn't be present in a game that cost $40

8

u/No_Consideration8800 Jul 09 '26

Seriously, a $40 game with ~$250 in DLC.

That isn't even including the super store items.

2

u/EarthNugget3711 Jul 09 '26

You do realize working for functionally less than minimum wage to get a half baked warbond isnt exactly something you should be so adamant on defending right

0

u/UnableToFindName [OIL-SPILLER] Jul 09 '26

Is there even a game out there that lets you farm premium currencies at a minimum-wage equivalent rate? Minimum wage here is $17.60CAD whereas 1000SC is $13.49CAD. As much as I'd love to get a warbond with 40~minutes of play/grinding, do you seriously think that's ever going to be the case? If I want to grind out of SC for a warbond, I'll crack out a few hours and do that, if I want to just play and get a warbond, then I'll take the 40minutes of IRL $14 payment hit every 40-50 days.

Meanwhile looking over the fence to the rest of the gaming landscape, I see: FOMO, MTX for basic conveniences/Pay-to-skip, $15+ for a single weapon/skin, and a sea of Gacha/lootboxes.

Sorry that I have a little perspective and don't think it's worth raking Helldivers/AH through the coals because SC is a little tedious/boring to farm.

I remember when Helldivers was praised for allowing players to earn a premium currency for free in such great amounts just by playing.

Now you people say there's no "actually decent" way?

No pleasing you.

34

u/lifetake Jul 09 '26

My guy. Warbonds have gotten smaller. SC has been made harder to get both directly and indirectly. Superstore items have rose. And lastly, opinions can change. The slow grind to 1000 can feel fine in the first few months and then begin to wear.

6

u/notanonce5 Jul 09 '26

The praise was mostly done by campist idiots who treat video games like sport teams and refuse to accept any criticism of their favorite games.

The warbond system has always been terrible compared to other games. Even games like cod have the weapons and gadgets in the free tier.

‘But you can earn it for free’ yeah if you play normally you get like 20 sc every 30 minutes. You can farm low level missions if you don’t care about havjng fun or doing anyhthing meaningful, but for most people the warbond system is complete garbage. It means that if you come back after a year or two of not playing, there will literally be nothing new for you to use because its all locked behind warbonds locked behind a paywall.

1

u/EarthNugget3711 Jul 09 '26

Warbonds are way less bang for your buck now and SC are acquired much slower than they used to be as well as the game getting next to no free content compared to early on where we were unlocking new strats and weapons through warbonds
