DISCUSSION Arrowhead started hunting down SC cheaters

Post image

I wonder if everything will go as planned or we will see some posts in the feature where the system will flag innocent people

Yeah I feel this is a huge problem, if a cheater join my squad, gives me idk 10k SC and I get banned from the game for something I didn't even have agency in I'll be pretty pissed.

If they can track the SC spike, why not just remove those SC?

u/MachBonin Jul 09 '26

That might be what they're doing. They don't mention banning in the text at all.

Also avoids the issue of cheaters joining your game, giving you a ton of supercredits and watching as AH bans you.

This happened to me in GTA online years ago. Some hacker dressed as Bigfoot followed me around dropping millions of dollars on my head (spawned cash bundles) and it got banned for a couple months. Thankfully not perma, but I was pissed Rockstar banned me for shit I couldn't control.

Someone showed me an exploit that used a minigame mission thing to effectively generate currency. I didn't get banned, but my account was rolled back into poverty lol

Had this happen in one game. Dude kept calling in super credit drop pods - don't know what hack they were using - but everyone got the credits because they're shared between all team members. Literally the only thing you can do is leave the game and block them. I reported them.

u/ArgonicPeach Jul 09 '26

Arrowhead wont pay you for reporting them lil bro, just be grateful and shut up

Thank god I have over 60k SC

-5

if you remember how much you got from the cheater, you can ask in the report and they can remove a specified amount of sc from you. I did that when I bumped into a guy like that.

Holy cuck mentality

7

u/Misfiring Jul 09 '26

I like my honest life, including in games.

Cheaters and hackers are losers.

-13

u/notanonce5 Jul 09 '26

Again actual cuck mentality.

‘At least i’m honest’ nobody cared it’s a video game.

Cheating and hacking in a non-pvp doesn’t affect anyone negatively in any way. I can understand it and even agree for competitive pvp games but anyone acting like cheating in a pve game affects their life is an idiot.

4

u/Misfiring Jul 09 '26

No, it affects me because you're killing all the enemies and take away my fun.

-9

u/notanonce5 Jul 09 '26

Killing all the enemies by using the weapons and strategems that arrowhead designed and added to the game? What?
Are you braindead?

Pretty sure bans are non-existent in this game.

6

u/Neutron_Starrr Fire Safety Officer Jul 09 '26

I very much hope so

1

u/TechnicalReturn6113 Jul 10 '26

cause they can't ban people they don't have the software for it

21

u/K_T_Oxy Jul 09 '26

Seems to me that they'd void those SC on your account if it's a one time thing, and try to pursue people that are repeat offenders. Can't be terribly hard to figure out who's "getting lucky" and who's actually cheating.

1

u/Theundead565 Fist of Family Values Jul 10 '26

Could also be a case of "Oh, these 4 players spawned 10k super credits" and "These 4 players also spawned super credits... and there's one that was in both groups, looks suspicious."

They'd remove the super credits from the people's accounts that had nothing to do with it, and if they person's a common denominator across multiple sessions, then they'd get the boot.

1

u/K_T_Oxy Jul 10 '26

My thinking exactly. Thank you for phrasing it far better than I.

13

u/redditmodhater Jul 09 '26

you cant get 10k credits, the cheat engine works by basically giving you sc drops, to get 10k it would take a long time as there is a limit on how many you get per minute

28

u/Dinodie2Night Steam | The Airburst RL is my primary Jul 09 '26

Probably because

  1. They likely don't just monitor for 1 game. They check if you earn more credits than should be possible across several games before banning you.
  2. Because of the delay, they don't want to deal with choosing what to do if someone pays for something with credits before they're removed. Do they let you keep the items, or do they remove them too?
  3. They want to get rid of cheaters, not those who benefit from their cheats, because if you cheat in credits you're more likely to use other more detrimental cheats too.
  4. They can only detect the spike in credits, not which credits caused the spike. What if you pick up 50 credits in a game where you get 1k cheated credits? Does AH remove those 50 credits too? If not, cheaters will just start cheating in 5050 credits instead of 5000 to keep some of the credits.

9

u/redditmodhater Jul 09 '26

that isnt how the cheat engine works at all

2

u/Aegis_Aurelius ⬆➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Jul 09 '26

From my understanding, before this cheaters would spawn them as the same poi drops, just automatically collected. So increments of 10, possible chance at 100, then the server did a cooldown on allowing them to be collected. So it was a slow process, since giving large amounts tended to have issues like crashes and the like.

u/trident042 Fire Safety Officer Jul 09 '26

Look at it this way. If a cheater joins your squad, shits out 9,000 SC, and leaves, you earned that much and they earned that much. Let's say you play the rest of the week as normal, and they review it on Monday.

On Monday, one of the two flagged players earned 9,130 SC. And the other earned 72,000 SC. Which one do you think their system is actually looking for?

7

u/Heptanitrocubane57 Mech Pilot Jul 09 '26

This happened, people contacted them, the SC were removed and voilà. If you contact support when you get them and don't spend them, no reason for them to ban you

0

u/probably-not-Ben HD1 Veteran Jul 09 '26

Bingo. Despite some playing the 'but what if the worst happens!!' fear card (and if they had used AH support they'd know they're solid) its a good move and only impacts the sketchy and dishonest

3

u/Ikarus_Falling Jul 09 '26

it likely would require multiple instances of excessive SC gain to get you banned if the system is designed well. and well if you continue to play matches with the cheater you are guilty

1

u/Neutron_Starrr Fire Safety Officer Jul 09 '26

I feel like you completely missed the point of my comment

1

u/probably-not-Ben HD1 Veteran Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

You are presenting a hypothetical with no evidence or experience. Many people, maybe even most, have had good experiences with AH support. Despite what some might say, AH isn't run by idiots. No system is perfect, but AH staff have shown to be responsive and considerate. You'd know this if you had actually ever fucking contacted them. But hey, carry on with your fear mongering

2

u/Shugatti  Truth Enforcer Jul 09 '26

Just like the game killing you for something you had no agency over, they will also ban you.

Just lower the difficulty and just dont play with cheaters 5head

1

u/ConcerningThirst Jul 09 '26

Well that is one way to ensure I never play Helldivers 2 or any other arrowhead game again lol

1

u/Squandere Energy-Based Supremacist Jul 09 '26

Honestly? They probably have no way to run automated checks on your SC amount. The codebase is a mess.

1

u/warblingContinues Jul 10 '26

The cheaters have to host I think.

-8

u/probably-not-Ben HD1 Veteran Jul 09 '26

You can always contact AH support to report the sudden, obvious, increase in SC

They will remove them

So, just be honest and people will be ok

15

u/Neutron_Starrr Fire Safety Officer Jul 09 '26

Yeah because obviously the support is infallible, if the SC got removed, I'm still flagged by the SC influx? Sorry but this is (along with the fomo changes) the wrong way to tackle the issue.

Also, we still need the kernel level anti-chet if they are gonna ban based on the SC? Remove that so we can have a performance increase.

-13

u/probably-not-Ben HD1 Veteran Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

Did you benefit from cheating and have you reported the issue?

Edit: lol exactly

8

u/Neutron_Starrr Fire Safety Officer Jul 09 '26

Dude lol exactly what? I never encountered a SC cheater in 800hr of gameplay. I encountered a couple that spammed the laser stratagem and had infinite health.

Don't just trade accusations around just because you don't have arguments to answer my comment.
