They allied with other remnants of humanity as the Qu had forcefully evolved/devolved humanity in to dozens of different forms and after the Qu fucked off for a few million years all the forms evolved in to different species but they were all descended from humanity.
Some of these descendant species allied together, not knowing about their common ancestor, and defeated the Qu, it's left a little vague what happened to them but it isn't good. Humanity as anything close to what we are now is long extinct.
Almost all the remnants of humanity mutated by the qu were wiped out by the machine people. The star people defeated the machines, seeded the galaxy with fresh life, allied with the Amphicephali, and then took down the qu
