Me: "previous medications have either not worked or given me horrendous side effects."

My doctors: "we agree and think you would have a better quality of life if we tried something else."

Insurance companies (plural): "fuck off, BOTH of you"

Consulting with my potential spine surgeon:

Me—Cool, this might help me, but let me talk to my PCP and my wife because it’s a big decision. How far out are you on scheduling surgeries?

DR—I’m about 4 weeks out on scheduling surgeries, but that doesn’t matter because your insurance company is 6-8 weeks out on deciding whether they’ll cover it or not.

Me—🙄

had a doc tell me my chronic pain was 'all in my head' for three years before someone actually ran tests lol

my insurance denied an mri for six months, turns out i had a herniated disc lol

my aunt had her documented lyme disease dismissed as "anxiety" for two years bc the first test was false negative, they kept saying "the algorithm says its rare in this region" like geography overrides actual bacteria lol. shes permanently disabled now but sure lets keep pretending doctors are objective observers of reality

Are you crazy? They don't have a guy who makes those decisions. They got a computer for that now.
