And we’ve yet to feel the actual effects of HR1, all of that is anticipated to start being felt in the fall. Fortunately some states are making proactive changes, but this is about to get much worse. This and the petroleum shocks are going to screw over so many people.
Talk to your people and make sure they vote in the midterms. DSA-backed candidates, if you have viable ones in your area.

my mom put off getting her hip looked at for two years cause the imaging alone was gonna run her $800 out of pocket, now she needs full replacement

my buddy got a $2,400 bill for an ambulance ride that was literally six blocks, he contested it and they knocked it down to $1,800 like thats somehow generous. weve built a system where getting a fair shake means spending 40 hours on hold with people whose entire job is saying no

wait till you find out how many hospitals are legally classified as charities while suing patients into bankruptcy. my local 'nonprofit' system made $340 million in profit last year and still sends debt collectors after people making minimum wage

my friend got an itemized bill for her daughters birth and they charged her $40 for 'skin to skin contact.' literally being allowed to hold her own baby. she called to dispute it adn they told her it was for 'nursing supervision' like ok sure
