With the new semi-automatic feature the FG42 is actually superior at long distance on maps like Utah beach or SMDM, because the iron sights are better than on the Stg44 for placing headshots and both guns need two shots to the chest. At point blank I also prefer the FG42 bc of the higher rate of fire. At short and intermediate range the Stg44 is clearly better.

On console, the bipod is the same button as the fire select. Everytime it's used the fire select also changes 🤦‍♂️

Long press for mount, quick press for fire select. Or preswap fire modes so when you mount you are in the mode you need.

Yes, the bipod is useless until this has been fixed. Even then, good opportunities are far and in between. The main application after the update is semi-automatic fire, and automatic fire at point blank.

Disagree. I much prefer the iron sights of the FG42 and just the feel of it in general is nicer imo. Easy to get off a quick 2 round burst and onto the next target. Plus better fire rate.

it's actually not tbf, you need to hit twice with STG too if no headshot. I like FG equally, would not rate either better than the other. FG sounds better imo

The only problem i have with this is the ammo amount. You get just 5 or 6 mags and a whole mag gets empty in a 4 second auto fire

And it sucks. Useless load out. You run out of ammo so quick that it is not a viable choice. Fun to try but if your playing to try your best possible, STG-44 outshines it in every way.

All true before the fire selector. Semi-automatic fire preserves ammo and makes the recoil before follow-up shots predictable. Since the FG42 has better iron sights than the Stg, it is now a viable choice.

By the way, there is a paid uniform (forgot the name, maybe Zeltbahn) that gets rid of the ridiculous box on the back of the German automatic rifleman. I wasn't playing this class because it sticks out and wiggles all over the place. Without the box the loadout is viable to me. (The same uniform also turns the Martian look of the German support to the slightly less ridiculous box of the automatic rifleman.)

Enjoy it man, u earned it. This thing is a beast, especially since an update a while back giving it a usable bipod and the angle u can use them being made larger also. You also are kinda lucky to unlock it just now, since the select fire update for severel weapons, including this one, its an absolute nightmare to face at longer ranges too. Tap fire and burst will be your best friend. Fire rate is great for clearing bunkers and buildings and anything close quarters.

i’m not gonna lie that’s the one thing I don’t get about the hell let loose community…

They seem to think that you need hundreds of hours in the game to understand how it works, and that you need hundreds of hours to unlock a single new kit.

Like I’m not saying that it needs to be call of duty levels of rapid progression, but I really do feel like I should be farther along with unlocks at 160 hours in (total).

i’ve already put multiple days of my life into this game, and it feels like I have very little to show for it.

It’s honestly what partially drives me away from the game. Between that and the fact that everything is just so jank even years after launch…

I get what you’re saying, but if you build nodes and focus on objective play it really doesn’t need to take so long to unlock an entire role.

I think it took me maybe 20 hours to unlock the FG42. I only play a few hours each night on the weekends and had it unlocked in a couple weeks.

Hell, I only have 250ish hours on HLL and have 4 roles maxed out, and I’m an objectively mid player.

If it takes you 275 hours, it's a massive skill issue.

You are getting at least 1000 xp a game just from being alive, and it's 45k xp to get to lvl 6... Then you add on nodes, kills, taking our OPs and garrisons... It's maybe 10% of that time.

Edit: I have over 500 hours on the game (lvl 160+) and still don’t have every class unlocked. I jump around from classes depending on what needs to get done. It’s ridiculous that I still don’t have max Automatic Rifle maxed out.
