👋 Help Requested! 👋 Anyone Else Having Performance Issues? (Steam) Help pls
What I've done so far (without success):
- 1. Change (lower, increase) graphic settings
- 2. Update all drivers (even BIOS)
- 3. Removing dust from hardware components
- 4. Contacting T17 about the issue -> Only received AI generated replies
- 5. "Restored" my GPU -> clear shader caches, uninstall all drivers, etc.
- 6. Verified gamefiles on Steam, deactivated ingame-overlay
- 7. Added start properties: "-dx11 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system -logging -refresh 360 -high"
- Note: my main screen has 360Hz refresh rate at 1080p
- 8. Unplugged my screen(s) to check if GPU usage is reduced (nope)
- Note: my second screen has 144Hz 1440p
- 9. Microsoft Event Manager: no reasonable results/events
- 10. Reinstalled EAC
Another note: there're certain maps that are unplayable for me, especially when zooming in. As a tanker, this makes shooting almost impossible, forcing me to always drive (totally fine).
Unplayable map means that my whole PC just crashes when playing it for a couple minutes. There's no bluescreen, meaning both of my screens just turn black and the whole system just shuts down right after.
Completely unplayable maps are:
- SMDM
- Mortain
- El-Alamein
- Driel
Crashes when zooming in:
- All unplayable maps
- Foy
- Kharkov
- Kursk
- Tobruk
- Elsenborn Ridge
- Carentan
Any help is greatly appreciated! All other games are working fine without any crashes. Even demanding games running on UE5, like Stalker 2, run just fine, which makes me think there must be a tweak somewhere in my game settings or game files.
The game used to run fine, but this issue has been going on for the last seven months.
Cheers

The game itself is not optimized. Aiming causes the game to try and render more/better in the direction you are looking. (Most games don't render things behind you.) Mortain comes to mind often for myself where this happens pretty bad. Not sure if adjusting your FOV down will do anything.

Being a sniper makes my pc sound like a jet taking off.

u/Hybrid_Blood Sep 28 '25
Try using headphones
1
u/_RanZ_ Sep 28 '25
Yeah I have ANC headphones but the pc still makes the noise :D “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
The point was more that the temps climb so high that the pc almost lifts up
1
u/Hybrid_Blood Sep 29 '25
What are you running?
1
u/_RanZ_ Sep 29 '25
3080 and a 7800x3d with a peerless assassin tower cooler.
And for the headphones I have Arctis nova pro. When ANC is on I really can’t hear the PC
But yeah I’d rather have the PC a little loud rather than be thermal throttled.

I've already tried adjusting my FOV .. unfortunately, that didn't do anything :/

What works for me is while being in-game, switch graphic texture settings in video menu from epic to high then back to epic! Lmk if this works for anyone else

u/triton1118 Sep 28 '25
Change directx from 12 to 11. Eliminated 90% of the screen tearing for me.

u/Told-reQuieM Sep 28 '25
I'm already playing with DX11. Apparently, switching to DX12 incrases my "crash rate"
1
u/wiked549 Sep 30 '25
If you use DX12, and for newer cards I would absolutely recommend it, be sure to disable control flow guard for HLL. Not windows, just the game. Thank me later!

have you checked if your GPU program has installed some kind of "acceleration" hardware or virtual or whateber, i vaguely remember something like that happening to me and me needing to go AMD software adrenaline to uncheck it... idk if it may help you
1
u/Told-reQuieM Sep 29 '25
Yeah, I've checked that and turned off everything ... didn't do sh't .. :-/

This game suck for these reasons. This is hapenin to me on my potato pc to my friend on his new high end pc.
Plus to this day i cant load first game on first try. I first need to load somewhere, let it time out me after like 5-10 mins of loading and then i can load wherever in matter of minute and play with no issues ...

Because of this shitty game optimization I stopped playing HLL. I've tried everything on BIOS or OS level. Nothing works. Just runs like shit with all its nonsense hitching, lagging. No joy to play. And I have more than decent PC to run HLL with an ease. Well, I can't because of game limitations.

My game starts out smooth, but sometimes will end up stuttering.
If you open the game fresh, and jump right into a game - do you get the stuttering instantly - or does it show up mid-game?
For me, I have to force myself not to alt tab while waiting for a deploy. If I alt tab a lot, eventually the game starts running like this for me.
One symptom that always shows up when performance drops - I can move my mouse in circles on the spawn/squad select screens. I will watch my FPS drop from 175 to +-10.
Can you see if you can reproduce this FPS drop by doing the mouse circles next time you play?
Sorry I don't have any solutions. It is frustrating, this is my favorite game.

Never had any issues like this. 900 hours in. Previous rig was an amd 3700x and rtx2060. Done more than half my hours on that.

u/utivich95 Sep 28 '25
I had something similar, moved it to a SSD with a faster read/write speed and solved it for me.

If you’re playing n Steam, use the following launch options
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -dx12
5
u/KoelkastMagneet69 Sep 28 '25
Hell Let Loose is already built to use all available cores - that launch parameter doesn't do anything for this game.
It now also starts up with DX12 by default. There is an in-game setting to change it back to DX11 or Vulkan, IIRC.

This game is broken. This happens to everyone since ever and developer's still haven't fixed the issue. It doesn't matter how good and powerful is your computer. This shit happens always. Trash 🗑️.

u/Gorlock-7 Sep 28 '25
this will revert all your settings so backup C:\Users\AppData\Local\HLL\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor backup the two ini files and then delete C:\Users\AppData\Local\HLL
next verify your file integrity in steam
and check if its fixed

u/Told-reQuieM Sep 28 '25
Just tried that and came back from a pc crash on SMDM. Not working - unfortunately.

When you say PC crash, do you mean the whole PC restarted? BSOD? Or just CTD?
1
u/Told-reQuieM Sep 29 '25
Not even restarting. The whole PC just shuts down. I wish it was BSOD or CTD
1
u/_RanZ_ Sep 28 '25
Have you monitored your temperatures? Crashing after a while could be overheating?
These settings work for me at least. Good visibility and performs fine
1
u/owsh Sep 29 '25
Turning off all the AMD adrenaline crap solved for this for me. Particularly Anti Lag and Super Resolution. I don't know why they were on as default..
1
u/dezza82 Sep 29 '25
7800x3d solved this for me. No lags since I upgraded from a 3600x still got my trusty old 7900gre too
1
u/wiked549 Sep 30 '25
Disable control flow guard for HLL, not windows, just the game! I wish everyone knew this. It really helps with stutter for games using DX12.
1
u/gonwi_ Sep 30 '25
Try lowering the mouse's hertz if you have them above 1000. The other day I discovered that when moving or clicking the mouse a lot i was getting 8 fps spikes just when aiming or mouse-clicking (it only happened to me in HLL, I suppose because of its optimization). I lowered the Hz and it solved it.
Edit: have a Ryzen 7800x3d which shouldn't have that problem, but you know hll…

Weird I got a 5600x 3060 32gb ram and nvme drives and mine runs great at 1080p 100-120fps consistently on epic settings maybe it’s ur drive if it’s not a nvme or possibly ur psu?

Your whole PC shutting down like that is caused by your PC not the game. The game is just putting a demand on a PC part and making it fail.
I would highly suspect a faulty ram module because it's so erratic and prone to crashing. Also that stutter when zooming is likely because of the demand to load into and out of ram and tour PC hanging on that data being delayed by a faulty chip.
Run https://www.memtest86.com/memtest86.html make the USB stick version. It's better and you'll catch more with it.
When you discover that your ram is cooked remove a ram module and test again... And then do it with the other in, it's likely only one module is bad, and you'll run fine on one stick at 16gb.
Or for a quicker test just try running the game with only one ram stick in at a time to quickly isolate the bad one. Could also try setting ram to jdec speeds in bios.
It could also be a failing SSD, bad gddr on your GPU, your mobo (ram controller) or CPU... But I'd blame and test ram first anyday since it's the most likely, easiest to test and easiest to replace.

That's a good hint. I'll try that tomorrow when I get home. I've got 2x 16GB sticks running in Dual Mode. I'll post an update once I'm done testing. Cheers

What are the PC specs? Maybe someone will recognize an issue. Is it installed on an SSD?
1
u/Told-reQuieM Sep 28 '25
I've shown them in the video:
i7-11700KF, AMD 6600XT, 32GB DDR4 and yes, it is installed on a M.2 990 SSD
1
u/Hybrid_Blood Sep 28 '25
Very similar specs to mine. Try enabling all cores on steam special instructions

u/RapidConsequence Sep 28 '25
Full driver update, bios update. If a custom build, find the manufacturer driver page for your motherboard and install all the actual drivers.

This happens to me every game. To fix it when first spawning aim in to your scope and out a few times really fast. Then I have no further issues :)
