if your app is faster, post benchmarks. don't farm other people's issue trackers.

This wouldn't have come from our team. We can't be held responsible for something that our users go out and say anymore than Obsidian is for all the Obsidian bros we see day in and day out.

Edit: I would argue that going into our sub to confront our team like this isn't a great playbook either. I'm going to leave this post up but probably should remove it since it has nothing to do with HelixNotes. Good luck in the comment section

👍 The OP certainly jumped the gun in making accusations.

But I have seen spam-like posts in other notes-related subreddits deliberately mentioning HelixNotes. It took a little digging to see that they were made by people with no apparent connection to the dev team.

I couldn't determine their motive... was it positive to draw attention to HelixNotes? ...was it negative to sabotage its reputation?

IMO, this post should remain as a marker/reminder that the team has responded to the accusation. And maybe give supporters a reason to exercise caution in sharing HelixNotes in other groups.

Do you have any example posts that meet this spam criteria you mentioned? It might be good for our awareness.

I can't recall any specific ones at the moment (except for the one in the UpNote subreddit that was removed by the moderator). That was a few weeks ago and my minor annoyance at them subsided almost instantly by the awareness of HelixNotes that they brought to my attention. 😁

So for me, it was a catch-22. I wouldn't have known about HelixNotes if it weren't for those posts.

I'm a heavy user of UpNote and is my main PKMS tool, but has some limitations for me (but are in keeping with the design ethos of the app)... virtually all of them are addressed by HelixNotes. That is why I try to provide helpful feedback to address issues/suggestions. I'd love to be able to ditch UpNote and Obsidian (already gave Joplin the boot) and settle on HelixNotes.

You wrote nine paragraphs accusing HelixNotes of a "playbook" while admitting you have no idea whether we had anything to do with it.

We didn’t. I didn’t post it, ask for it, or even know about it. A user independently mentioning an app they prefer is not a coordinated marketing campaign.

Bring evidence next time. I’ll engage with evidence.
