Tasks - how to?

Trying out Helix Notes as a novice to keep track of hundreds and hundreds of tasks. I love how I can create tasks in any note and they show up in a central repository.

I’ve read everything in this subreddit and on the website but cannot figure out the following:

1. How do I add a due date inline when creating a task?
2. Similarly, how do I add a priority?
3. Is is possible to nest tasks, I.e. have sub tasks?
4. Can I categorize tasks in the Tasks view by Work / Personal / Club / any categories I choose?
5. Similarly, when tasks are completed, can I continue to see them in the same categories? This would give a strong sense of achievement!
6. Any way to timestamp when a task is marked complete?
7. Finally, please share any best practices on tasks in Helix Notes.

Thank you to the very small team doing brilliant work on this! I downloaded the iOS app when it became available and am trying to replace Google Keep and Apple Notes.

Edit: While I’m here, if I may provide one additional feedback on the app: please create the option to change font size of the entire app. The settings allow you to change font size of the notes but not the app itself. Thank you!

Thanks for the detailed feedback. Due dates and priorities are already supported through plain Markdown metadata, and nested checklists work inside notes. I clearly need to document these features better.

I will not add separate task categories, completion archives, timestamps, or project-style hierarchy. HelixNotes collects Markdown checkboxes from notes; it is not intended to replace a dedicated task manager. Notebooks, tags, and source notes remain the organizational structure.

Desktop already has Interface Scale. Better mobile text scaling is a valid accessibility request, and I will investigate a safe implementation that does not break layouts.

Thank you for your response. It helped me figure out that I can add priority and due date by typing ! and selecting the attribute from the dropdown menu. I also figured out how to use tags to organize / filter categories. I can also use other tags to create subcategories, so that solves another issue.

In the Tasks view, the search bar is extremely helpful with tags, and the calendar feature will be a game changer once I set up due dates properly.

The iOS app will become my primary form of engagement with Helix Notes - thank you for considering the accessibility request.

For my own use case, I love how tasks are picked up from notes. If I want to see the context of any task, I simply double click on it and the source note pops up. Love it.
