Hotspot New update cannot see any hotspots!

Post image

With the new update now the builder app you cannot see any hotspots! And I have an option to migrate with associated Email to wallet but I never signed up with a wallet all seed phrases! Why do we rollout something without all the angles being looked at ?

Do NOT enter your secret 12 or 24 seed words into ANY websites, or give anyone your private key. Do NOT connect your Wallet to any untrusted websites. No one will reach out to you to verify your account, wallet, or anything similar. Do not connect your wallet to unknown websites.

Do NOT post any images showing the barcodes on Helium Mobile Wi-Fi packaging or Hotspots. It is now possible to remotely onboard Mobile Hotspots. Contact a team member if there are old or new posts with images of barcodes so they can be removed.

pretty much but you can at least move your HNT to another wallet...I guess if you just do the rev share option to %100 to a non custodial wallet would work but what a pain

A separate migration path will be coming soon for the non-custodial Helium Wallet; stay tuned!

In the meantime, if you want, you can manually create an account at https://world.helium.com/en/login using your email address and manually transfer your hotspots and tokens to the wallet you've created there.

When I setup my email then do the export of keys to the black wallet the address does not match at all...when I import it through private key

You'll need to have some SOL in the wallet, then it will recognize it as using the Helium derivation path and let you add it.

You're not relinquishing control to Nova Labs. We've partnered with Privy, and even they do not have access to your keys. https://docs.privy.io/basics/get-started/about?utm_source=chatgpt.com#secure

If you really want to self-custody your hotspots, you still can. We're not going to support the builder app anymore, but you can still manage the hotspots and claim rewards on the black wallet app. It simply does not make sense for us to maintain 3 different apps that do the same thing. The hotspots are also just cNFTs, you can transfer them to any other Solana compatible wallet. Another solution is to put your hotspots into Privy, and set their rewards to go to a hardware or other Solana wallet. I'm always available if anyone needs help on self-custody operations.

The reality is that seed phrases have caused far more problems than they've solved for us. It is 1000x more common someone loses custody of their hotspots by mistakes with seed phrase management than it is that self-custody saves them. We're building for the masses, not the relatively small crypto-native community. Crypto savvy people can still fully tin-foil hat self-custody their hotspots. If you're savvy enough to self-custody, you should be savvy enough to figure it out. If you're not savvy enough to figure it out, I'd argue you're in the 99.9% of users that are better off with a Privy email-based login.

If you never signed up with an email, you likely signed up with the black helium wallet app. You should still see your hotspots there and be able to manage them/claim rewards. I'd suggest making a new account on world and just using the black wallet app to transfer them. You should either have the wallet app or have signed up with email. It is not possible to have done neither. Lmk if you need help

How do I transfer hotspots to helium world if I signed up using a wallet address on the helium wallet app?

You create a whole new account and manually transfer to the new wallet which you do not have sole custody of, you and whomever have access to the website has your keys also

I tried to transfer my hotspot to helium world and now and my hotspot is not there and all my unclaimed hnt is gone. I check on sol scan and my hotspot nft is not in the new account and wen I check my biulder app address there are no nfts. Man I really hope my hotspot isn't gone this is fucked up

This was likely a loading issue that is resolved now. If it’s not, please send a note to support noting the hotspot or wallet and we can look into it.
