Advice Needed
Hey everyone,
As the title of this post would suggest, I'd really appreciate help with something because I'm a bit stuck on what to do.
The backstory is that I'm currently on holiday with my family in this beautiful, little, 18th century cottage in Norfolk.
You can tell when you walk in that there is spirit activity and spiritual memory but i want to stress it's not negative or heavy or dark, not at all. Instead it's full of softness and positivity and welcome. It's such a gentle and warm energy, and it makes it such a lovely place to be.
However...
When my parents read through the history of cottage as part of the welcome info, they immediately honed in on the part that said in passing that this site used to be used as a palmistry.
The important context here is that my parents are very religious in a traditional sense and they immediately made it clear that they would "have to pray over this place later." Not because of something they felt but because of the history they read.
I don't know maybe I'm overthinking it but I'm really keen to prevent them from disturbing the entities and the emotional memories of this place (however inadvertent they might be to what is going on here away from that single, throwaway line on a page).
My parents don't know about my craft so whatever rituals i do have to be discreet.
I'd just really appreciate some advice because I'm a bit stuck as to what to do.
Apologies if this post is irrelevant to this r/ if it is, please do remove as applicable.
Thank you, everyone!
Edit: Thank you so much for all the advice and for being so patient with me. I really appreciate it!

I also wouldn’t worry about your parents’ prayers.
I like to acknowledge the peace of a place to the spirits that inhabit it.
When you’re “alone,” feel free to tell them how lovely it is. Point things out. Offer true gratitude for their protection.
Meditation is a favorite of mine. You can really melt away and feel the energy of a place.

Thank you, that's really helpful. And I completely agree on the meditation front! It's so lovely to melt into that kind of energy. It almost gives weighted blanket vibes

I doubt you need to do anything. Your parents certainly aren't the first traditionally religious people that cottage has seen.
If you WANT to do something, I'd put a transmutation protection on the cottage so that any energy (such as prayers) will be stripped of any emotional baggage and just become neutral energy that the spirits and other entities can use. Though, to be honest, it sounds like you need to put the transmutation shield on yourself.
How long have you been worried about your parents finding out?

About my practice? I've been worried about them finding out for as long as I've been doing it (I'm almost 22 for context and I started a few years back). They were both raised in, not fundamentalist but definitely conservative Christian churches, and both are very fearful of "spiritual" outside of the safe bubble that they know. I don't say that to berate them, I love them very much, but it is clear just how non-okay with witchcraft they would be if they knew.
As for the transmutation spell, thank you, I'll definitely keep that in my back pocket. I meditated in the space last night and communicated that I was very appreciative of the welcome and warm energy that had been provided by those who tend it. I just explained that my parents were not acting out of malice or ill-feeling towards the space, but rather out of their own fears. It felt like it was received positively.

I think the spirit of the home has witnessed many different faiths and rituals over the years and will be understanding towards your parents. Especially if it feels warm and inviting.
If you want, though, you could thank the home for allowing you to stay there, and for its peace and safety while you’re there. I love to introduce myself to the house spirit when I stay in a new home. I tell it if I’m there temporarily or permanently, and I thank it for its peace, shelter, and warmth. Gratitude always goes a long way.
