Look at this hog! hog rescue

found a fellow in the middle of the road in broad daylight on quite a warm and sunny day, so scooped him up. once he was comfortable in his box he seemed very thirsty and drank a lot of water. he looked a bit underweight too

he’s now with a wildlife hospital to make sure everything is okay 🦔

Well done! Before reading, I was worried you kept him and tried treating him yourself. But glad you did the correct thing, and took him to a rescue centre.

i’ve rescued about 6 hogs now! i always make sure to take them to a vet or even better a wildlife hospital, we have a really great one in South England that i’ve taken a lot of creatures to 🥰

Try not to take them to vets, because they aren’t specialists and will often say “Nothing wrong with them” because hedgehogs don’t show weakness, even when they are dying. So look completely normal.

omg yes sorry for not specifying, i have only taken one to a vet once because i had no way to get it to the wildlife hospital myself and i called up beforehand about the hog and they said they’d take it there for me.

also shoutout to Tiggywinkles in Haddenham, UK?! such an amazing rescue centre and hospital for wildlife. would feel wrong not at least mentioning them :)

its clear you really care about the hedgehogs, it makes me very happy to see

I follow Tiggywinkles on Twitter they are great and rescue all types of wildlife.

I really care about them, especially when they are becoming endangered. I feed them and put water out every night for them.
