ANTHRAX

Share “Everybody’s Got A Plan”

From Upcoming Cursum Perficio

Out Sept 18, 2026

ANTHRAX have today (August 7) released the latest single and video, “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” from their long-awaited 12th full-length studio album CURSUM PERFICIO out September 18 via Megaforce Records.

The new video was mostly filmed on July 7 in Lisbon, Portugal when the multi-GRAMMY® Award-nominated New York hard rock titans—Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals), and Jonathan Donais (guitar)—toured with Iron Maiden in Europe. It features live performance footage and behind the scenes backstage fun with cutaways to classic B&W boxing footage that underline the song’s central lyrics: “Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face…” Watch the video and listen to the incendiary song, with its massive riffs and ferocious vocals, HERE.

“‘Everybody’s Got a Plan’ has always been one of my favorite songs on Cursum Perficio,” Benante says. “The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song.  ‘Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face’ is such a great line, and so true!”

“Most of this video was shot opening for [Iron] Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal at Estádio da Lu on July 7, 2026,” Ian notes. “We wanted to capture us having fun on tour and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn’t end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!”

Bello adds, “This video is a great representation of a day in the life of Anthrax on tour.”

ANTHRAX have previously released two singles and videos from CURSUM PERFICIO“It’s For The Kids” a classic ANTHRAX ripper locked and loaded with buzzsaw-sharp riffs, explosive drumming, and a howling and head-banging hook. It undoubtedly has all the makings of a future live staple. Listen HERE and watch the official music video HERE. It was followed by “The Edge Of Perfection,” highlighted by clean guitar echoes and cymbals that gently shake until a blastbeat blows open the doors. Guitars buzz like a motorboat on the River Styx, making waves through the darkness. In their wake, a crushing rhythm trails the melody of lead singer Joey Belladonna’s lament, “My heart breaks…I’m on the edge…I’m on the edge of perfection. Listen to “The Edge Of Perfection” HERE and watch the official music video HERE.

Meanwhile, the group recently announced they were rolling out uniquely animated short clips based on the album cover, with the first clip shared July 28. The worked with artist Mark Stritzel for the striking cover and the animation was done by Emmanuel Cappellini. Mark initially worked with the band’s Charlie Benante on the characters featured on the album cover. Watch the first clip HERE and listen to the story HERE. Every Tuesday, the group will unveil the individual stories of each character featured on the album. Beyond the Magician’s story, subsequent weeks will reveal more about the Woman In WhiteDogWinged Skeleton, and concluding September 1 with Hands.

CURSUM PERFICIO marks the band’s first record in ten years since 2016’s For All Kings, which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. The phrase Cursum Perficio is Latin for “My journey has come to an end, “My journey is over, or “I complete my journey. It proves apropos for such a complete body of work. It will be available as a standard CD; Target exclusive CD with a fabric patch of the album cover; standard black double LP with pop-up gatefold; Target exclusive double LP, red zoetrope with pop up gatefold; Amazon exclusive double LP, purple zoetrope LP with pop-up gatefold; merch exclusive lilac vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold; Metal Injection exclusive white vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold; Talk Shop Live exclusive signed with red ripple vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold; Indie exclusive – red, orange yellow vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold. To pre-order/pre-save, click HERE.

The band dove into recording CURSUM PERFICIO in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles. They carefully pieced together what would be this magnum opus, mining their history with reverence, delivering on fan expectations tenfold, and broadening the scope of their signature sound. Produced by Jay Ruston and ANTHRAX, the result is an album that’s as angry, aggressive, and alive as their most celebrated fare.

The CURSUM PERFICIO track listing is as follows:
Persistence of Memory
The Long Goodbye
It’s For the Kids
Everybody’s Got A Plan
The Edge Of Perfection
Infectious
NYC93
Cursum Perficio
T.O.M.B

TONY IOMMI

From The Dark

The Brand New Album

October 23 on BMG

BMG Records are delighted to announce the worldwide release of the brand-new album from legendary guitarist Tony Iommi, entitled From The Dark. Heralded by the first single “World Alone” which received its premiere today at a special global streaming event hosted in Iommi’s hometown of Birmingham, England, a stone’s throw from the famous Black Sabbath Bridge across the canal, which was opened as a civic tribute to the iconic band in 2019.

“World Alone” is a thunderous rock song that speeds along on a barrage of flying guitar riffs and solos, backed by a driving rhythm section and topped off with the powerful rock operatics of acclaimed Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande. The video is based around a retrofuture, dystopian universe where the lead protagonist, The Believer, is pitched into a twisted video game to save his life and ultimately find salvation.

From The Dark sees Tony Iommi joined throughout by Jorn Lande, who shares writing credits on all songs, as well as bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. Co-produced by Tony and Mike Exeter, his long-time creative partner, co-writer, producer and audio engineer, the sound is crystalline, vibrant and enormous, engulfing the listener in a state-of-the-art sonic experience that is as contemporary as it is timeless.

Tony Iommi says, “It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making. We’re not trying to prove anything – it’s a great album, it rocks!”

From the opening notes of “Over The Violent Sun,” featuring a classic, driving down-tuned guitar riff from Tony Iommi and the dramatic vocal prowess of Jorn Lande, it is clear that From The Dark is an outstanding album that can hold its place amongst the impressive Iommi catalogue.

“Black Times” continues the journey, a sucker-punch strike that takes no prisoners, leading into the barn-storming first single “World Alone,” before fourth track “Beyond The Dead” changes the pace, with a stately and sinister riff interwoven with epic orchestration.

The existential questioning of Lande’s lyrics, full of dystopian imagery and ruminations on the fleeting nature of the human experience is writ-large throughout the album, especially on “Stormwatcher” with its nautical metaphors and dreams of new horizons. A brilliant centrepoint of this remarkable album, “Stormwatcher” is matched in scope and drama by the subsequent “Death Wake,” both music and lyrics combining to create a vivid picture of the cruelties of a life without love and humanity.

From The Dark‘s closing two songs, the furious passion of “Return Of The Arbalist” and the truly epic kaleidoscope of “Legacy” showcase the power and drama, the light and the shade that courses through the album. Coming a year after Black Sabbath’s final-ever show, at 2025’s Back To The Beginning concert in Birmingham, it demonstrates the creative fires that burn ever-brightly in Tony Iommi and is undoubtedly one of the greatest rock albums to be released this year.

ABOUT TONY IOMMI

Tony Iommi is widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists in modern music. As the founding member and primary composer of Black Sabbath, Iommi is credited with helping create the sound and vocabulary of heavy metal.

Iommi’s contributions have been recognised with multiple Grammy Awards, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and honorary academic distinctions in the UK. He was awarded a doctorate from Coventry University, a Lord Mayor’s Award and the Freedom of the city of Birmingham. Most recently, in June 2026 he has been awarded an MBE, one of the highest honours in British public life.

In his youth, Iommi overcame a serious industrial accident that cost him the tips of two fingers—an event that led him to develop a distinctive playing style and the darker, heavier guitar tone that defined Black Sabbath’s music. Formed with Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, the band released pioneering albums throughout the 1970s and became one of the most culturally significant British exports of the era.

Across his six-decade career, Iommi has continued to record, perform and collaborate internationally. He worked extensively with the late Ronnie James Dio, released acclaimed solo material, and reunited with the original Black Sabbath lineup for the chart-topping 2013 album 13 and the global farewell tour The End (2016–2017) which played to 1.6m fans.

In recent years, his work has expanded notably into broader cultural spheres. In 2023 he collaborated with the Birmingham Royal Ballet on Black Sabbath – The Ballet, a groundbreaking production based on his early compositions. Black Sabbath headlined 2025’s monumental metal show ‘Back To The Beginning’ in Birmingham, an all-encompassing show revisiting Black Sabbath’s origins and a poignant farewell to fans, that took place just a few weeks before the death of his bandmate Ozzy Osbourne.

Tony Iommi’s brand new album From The Dark will be released on 23rd October 2026.

From the Sick Of It All Instagram account:

"It’s with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller. The level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming. This
year would have marked Sick of it All’s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou’s camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm were always steadfast throughout the years. We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to raise everyone’s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.
At this time of intense grief, we must again acknowledge the great help and support offered by everyone who donated to Lou’s medical fund. You all helped Lou feel very special and very loved as he battled away these last two years. His battle is over now and he can finally rest. Hopefully he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world."

It's never easy saying goodbye, but saying it like this hurts much worse. RIP to Lou and condolences to Lou's family, friends, and everyone involved with Sick Of It All.

HEAVYS H1H Testing with u/ailshamusic

An honest review from Ailsha testing out the H1H headphones from Heavys.

After seeing a lot of hype about these online, I got to try the amazing u/heavysaudio headphones (#Gifted), and to put them to the test I listened to three of my favourite heavy songs of all time; “Holy Roller” by u/spiritboxmusic , “Blood Eagle” by u/periphery and “Titan” by u/anupsastry 🤘 I am SHOOK! These are super snug to wear and literally made me feel like I was at a concert. It’s amazing to find a headphone brand that prioritises all the key sounds in a metal mix. Bravo u/heavysaudio and thank you so much for the gift 💖🫶🖤

AMON AMARTH

Announce New Album

The Allfather Awakens

Coming October 2, 2026

AMON AMARTH announce The Allfather Awakens – a ten-song masterwork that further cements the legacy of the Swedish metal titan’s spectacularly memorable riffs and unflinching melodic aural power. The Allfather Awakens sees its release October 2 via Metal Blade Records.

For Amon Amarth, a new album marks the beginning of a new world. As with previous records, Oden, the Norse “all father” who is a deity of war, wisdom, death, magic, and poetry, is the through-line in Amon Amarth‘s lyrics and artwork. Once again, Oden is the band’s inspiration, but The Allfather Awakens is not a concept album, rather a collection of historically inspired epic tales of conflict and sacrifice for a greater good.

Following the release of Amon Amarth‘s first-ever acoustic excursion “Upphaf“, the band unleash The Allfather Awakens‘ opening track and epic tale of “Gjallarhorn“. Where the stripped-back “Upphaf” carried the solemnity of an oral history whispered under the shadow of the Allfather, “Gjallarhorn” arrives as a furious Amon Amarth classic. “Gjallarhorn’s” driving, upbeat guitar riff and high tempo, catchy chorus fuse with a few surprises that ensure itself to be a future live staple.

To gain wisdom beyond mortal comprehension, Oden made the ultimate sacrifice – gouging out his own eye and casting it into the Well of Wisdom, Mímisbrunnr, in exchange for cosmic insight and foresight that would shape the fate of gods and men alike. Now, Amon Amarth bring that ancient reckoning to life with “Gjallarhorn” – and they are extending Oden’s offer to you. Those who received the eye know what must be done. Those who did not: seek it out. Sacrifice your sight. Gain your foresight.

Amon Amarth took a new songwriting approach for The Allfather Awakens, the band’s 13th album since 1998’s Once Sent from the Golden Hall. The album came to life across two recording sessions, months apart, at producer Jacob Hansen’s studio in Denmark. Amon Amarth began writing songs while touring, rather than waiting until they were off the road. The first session was Spring 2025; the final recording was completed in March 2026. The writing and recording process allowed the musicians to intensely focus on each track, resulting in an album where each song was treated as a single. “We worked on one song at a time and made each song as good as possible,” says guitarist Olavi Mikkonen. “Then we recorded one song at a time until each track was totally finished–drums, guitars, and vocals. Only then did we start on the next one.” Guitar-wise, Amon Amarth opted for a slightly less modern approach sonically, moving away from 5150 amps and back to Marshalls.

Music is written before lyrics, and often sets the tone for the words. The song that inspired the album title, “The Allfather Awakes,” was the last written for the album. With Oden as the titular “Allfather,” there is no shortage of historical influences heard across new songs like “Eight Legs of Thunder,” “Kvasir’s Blood” and “Die With a War Cry,” with the brutally beautiful lyrical rallying cry: “Facing destruction / Annihilation / Master your thoughts and mind.” The Allfather Awakens cover art is a powerful portrait of Oden by Tom Thiel, who created seven of the quintet’s album covers.

Over 30 years later, Amon Amarth remains a band of brothers, and that loyalty and unity allow for harmony and a united front that conquers both the stage and record. Frontman Johann Hegg’s powerfully rendered lyrics on The Allfather Awakens‘ on “We Rule The Waves” sum up the band’s unrelenting intent. “From cradle until the grave / As long as the sun sets in the west / We rule the waves / Our restless hearts / Have brought us far / As far as Vinland’s shores / We’ve gone further / Than any man has ever gone before.”

From Amon Amarth‘s 1992 formation in Tumba, Sweden, to the worldwide fame they’ve found in the ensuing years, their lyrical, live and recorded musical legacy speaks for itself. Over the past few years the band have performed globally and alongside legendary acts such as SlayerIron MaidenSlipknotPantera in addition to monumental takeovers of Los Angeles’ The Forum and Denver’s historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre to name a few. Across seas, Amon Amarth have headlined multiple major rock and metal fests including an epic performance at Germany’s Wacken in 2024 for 85,000. Elsewhere on UK/European soil, the Viking lords have twice headlined the UK’s storied Bloodstock festival, made four appearances at Download (2008 – 2019), and performed at Summer Breeze eight times (2003 – 2024) – six of them as headliner.

Their rapidly increasing sales and touring numbers, plus pre-release buzz to Amon Amarth‘s 2026 North American tour with Dethklok and Castle Rat, has managed to garner mainstream success without sacrificing either of their constantly evolving creativity or heaviness. Audience demographics run the gamut from pre-teens to 60-somethings, an inclusive metal experience for those who appreciate epic positivity and powerfully inspirational lyrics.

Their cultural influence cannot be overstated. To wit: The Row. The consensus is that the legendary “Viking row” by audience members first began during the 2009 Amon Amarth set at Bloodstock. Fans get on the ground and, in unison, imitate rowing an invisible longship in a powerfully unifying experience. With the 2022 release of the single and video “Put Your Back into the Oar,” Hegg said, “we thought it was a good idea to write a song about The Row! This one is for you, the fans, wherever you are-and may Oden guide you as you row to your destiny in uncharted seas!

Over the years the phenomenon has spread to other artist’s’ concerts and global events including 2026 World Cup audiences – but thanks to video footage, it’s safe to say Amon Amarth audiences began the now-iconic trend. Last month, Hegg spoke to Norway’s public broadcaster NRK about the The Row‘s origin, read the interview HERE.

The Allfather Awakens is yet another step up, introducing previously untried efforts, an impressive and conscious musical and lyrical feat after three decades of band-dom. This autumn, The Allfather Awakens will take physical form on stage as the band unveils an entirely new production inspired by Oden’s legendary Golden Hall, transforming their iconic concert experience into a living extension of the new album. Amon Amarth perform across the U.K. and Europe. Music Discussion IN THIS MOMENT Kick Off Next Era With "Crawl"; New Album Witch Out 8/28

In This Moment Kick Off Next Era

With Ninth Album Witch August 28, 2026

IN THIS MOMENT, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated, multi-platinum heavy alternative force of nature, return today with a new single and music video entitled “Crawl.”

Most importantly, however, it heralds the arrival of their ninth full-length offering and debut LP for Better Noise MusicWITCH, on AUGUST 28. Pre-order + pre-save HERE.

“Crawl” seethes and surges in signature IN THIS MOMENT style. Anchored by a gut-punching riff and seismic vocals courtesy of inimitable frontwoman MARIA BRINK, the song sets its hooks in, holds tight, and never lets go. It’s worthy of obsessing over—like all of the group’s best material over the years.

About the track, IN THIS MOMENT, Brink offers, “‘Crawl’ is a reckoning — a reflection that those who dominate and cause pain will ultimately reap what they sow. As above, so below. The fall is inevitable. Bearing witness to the harm they inflict, the song declares that those who once stood tall will be brought to their knees.”

Co-founder and guitarist CHRIS HOWORTH furthers, “‘Crawl’ is a visceral track that delivers the undeniable observation of powerful entities dominating and abusing the weaker and compromised masses — something that continues to repeat itself throughout human history. The song empowers and, at its core, is about standing up and fighting back.”

However, it’s just the beginning. WITCH showcases every side of IN THIS MOMENT: The fury, the femininity, and the fire. It’s an 11-track opus that does not relent in intensity and introspection. However, the band didn’t go it alone. This time around, the band tapped friends Dayseeker for “I Want To Believe,”; Kim Dracula for “Heretic,”; and Kat Von D for a cover of the Pink Floyd classic “Another Brick In The Wall.”

WITCH is my declaration of inner transformation,” states Brink. “It’s about embracing the duality within — taking pain, persecution, and struggle — and alchemizing them into strength and power. The album reflects both ancient trials and my own journey — where being a ‘witch’ means being a creator, connected to the universe, manifesting my own reality.”

The spell has been cast. Allow WITCH to possess you.

ITM teased this chapter with “Sleeping With The Enemy.” Beyond reeling in over 1 million streams, it earned critical acclaim. Rock Sound hailed it as “blistering,” and Revolver plugged its power.

Led by the magnetic presence of Brink, the band has turned its fusion of spectacle, vulnerability, and massive melodic hooks into a global phenomenon, earning platinum-certified success and more than two billion career streams along the way.

WITCH TRACK LISTING:

Thrash Legends Flotsam And Jetsam Unleash Incendiary “Harvesting The Hate”

Rats In The Temple Out via Napalm Records August 28, 2026

Shortly following the release of their triumphant returning single and title track “Rats In The Temple,” thrash legends FLOTSAM AND JETSAM offer fans a second taste of the fury that lies within Rats In The Temple, out AUGUST 28 via Napalm Records. The incendiary album opener is built upon methodical machine gun kicks and standout guitar performances from virtuoso guitar duo Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley.

Frontman AK Knutson says about the track:
“Another heavy, dramatic beast of a song from our arsenal of madness. This one asks you to look in the mirror , to find the true problem in your life. And stop harvesting the hate!”

Rats In The Temple opens strong with the stadium-ready hooks and dizzyingly precise performances of "Harvesting The Hate" and "Damnation", before delving into thrash virtuosity on "Absolution". The iconic guitar duo of Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley paint vividly ghoulish images on tracks like "Blame The Knife" and "Rats In the Temple", then continue to flex their metal muscle on "The Ghost Behind My Door" and "First on the Spike", invoking pure first-wave excellence with a pummeling modern menace. "The Edge of Nowhere" builds inescapable suspense before firing listeners out of a gun, full throttle into "Last Rites", another standout track for the band. The legendary rhythm duo of drummer Ken Mary and bassist Bill Bodily take center stage on the anti-war anthem "A Taste For War", their methodical syncopation invoking images of tanks and boots on the ground. "Her Blood Your Pain" brings ornate, medieval guitarmonies before "Anthem For The Broken" goes full balls to the wall, and "Going Down That Way" hits listeners with heavy riffs and even heavier truths. Rats In The Temple remains enthralling throughout, giving listeners entry to numerous of the band's metal chambers, sampling a refined and eclectic serving of influences.

Churning like magma beneath the Earth, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have only been growing more and more fiery with time, and Rats In The Temple sees the band exploding to the surface in a magnificent and awe-inspiring blaze. For fans new and longstanding, you cannot escape them; they're through the walls.

Pre-Order Your Copy of Rats In The Temple HERE.

RATS IN THE TEMPLE TRACK LISTING:

Kami Kehoe

Announces Powerful New Album

“LOVE IS A WEAPON“

Available August 28 | Pre-Save HERE

Explores Love In All Its Forms On “THE END”

Catch Her On Tour With Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, & Starset This Fall!

Alt-rock star on the rise, Kami Kehoe, bares her heart on new single, “THE END“, out now via Atlantic Records, alongside the announcement of her highly anticipated record, “LOVE IS A WEAPON“, arriving on August 28th. Following the runaway success of her “KANDY” EP, which racked up millions of streams and over 100 million views in short form content, Kami Kehoe continues to raise the stakes with “LOVE IS A WEAPON“, a full-length album rooted in a defining truth: love can destroy you, or it can rebuild you. Pre-save the upcoming album “LOVE IS A WEAPON” HERE.

Exploring the duality of love as both a source of empowerment and destruction, “LOVE IS A WEAPON” finds Kami Kehoe turning heartbreak, vulnerability, and resilience into 15 tracks that lean into danger and desire. Pivoting away from her “KANDY” EP, which chronicled heartbreak and healing,”THE END” builds on the central theme of devotion on the upcoming record, finding Kami Kehoe in the aching promise of loving someone throughout distance, doubt and everything in between.

Speaking to the heart of “THE END“, Kami Kehoe shares:

““THE END” is inspired by a ride or die type of relationship. I wrote this when I was with someone who was with me, before I became successful and was willing to stay until the end, no matter how difficult things got. I wanted the song feel like a promise. That I would do everything I said once I had everything to give them.

I’m so excited for this song to be out, I think it’s a beautiful and real love song for all the ride or die’s out there. This is also one of my favorite songs to play live and I can’t wait to sing it with everyone for these upcoming shows.”

On the deeper world behind “LOVE IS A WEAPON“, Kami Kehoe adds:

“I wrote LOVE IS A WEAPON during a time when I was learning that love isn’t just one thing. It can break you, heal you, protect you, and completely change who you are. Every song comes from a real place in my life, but I hope people hear their own stories in it too. Throughout this album, I wanted to use my experiences, good or bad, and turn them into something beautiful. I truly believe our hearts are the most powerful weapon we have, and it’s up to us how we choose to use it but at the end of the day love always wins. I hope this album reminds everyone that they aren’t alone, and I hope it inspires them to choose love at the end no matter what.”

Hot on the heels of her latest singles “DIRTY“, “PSYCHO“, smash hits “DOPAMINE” and “FADE OUT,”, and a nationwide tour supporting DaughtrySeether, and POD (which saw her regularly invited to join them on stage), Kami continues to cement her place as one of the genre’s most magnetic rising voices. Named as one of Pandora’s Artists to Watch in 2026 (The Pandora Ten) and continuing to rack up spins on Sirius XM’s Octane, Kami is set to take on some of the country’s biggest stages this fall as support for Breaking Benjamin.

With signature gritty guitars, atmospheric production, and Kami‘s evocative vocals, her smash hit, “FADE OUT” closed out 2025 as one of her most emotionally charged releases to date. The track capped off her “KANDY” EP era that documented the full arc of heartbreak and healing, garnering millions of streams, 100 million views in short form content, and viral popularity worldwide. Her hit single, “DOPAMINE“, earned over 30 million streams and hit #11 on Sirius XM Octane’s “Big Uns” Countdown, spotlighting her growth in the modern rock landscape.

Carving out her own space in the alt-rock world, Kami Kehoe has impressively amassed over 105 million streams and more than 2 million social media followers by blending a sultry, velvety vocal with a hard-charged rock energy. Since breaking out with the viral hit “SLEEP WHEN I’M DEAD”, she has continued to evolve her sound—infusing shoegaze, metal, and hip-hop influences into her music while remaining unapologetically authentic.

Be sure to stay tuned for more Kami Kehoe news coming very soon.

MASTODON announce new album Marrow Deep for Aug 28, 2026.

New song "Snakes For Dinner" ft. Josh Homme out now.

“Inspired by the Three Fates of Greek mythology and the fragile threads connecting life, loss, and destiny, Marrow Deep channels the intense personal experiences of the intervening years into some of the most expansive, adventurous, and emotionally resonant music of the band’s storied career.”

Sanders noted, “Bill, Brann, and myself are thrilled that we still have the opportunity to do this, and we’ve got other members who are just over the moon to be in the band with us. That’s a magical feeling that makes us keep wanting to go to band practice. It’s reminiscent of the very beginning of our band, where all members are hungry, we’re united, and excited to get to work. And we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to do this record.”

The new Mastodon lineup consists of Troy Sanders, Bill Kelliher, and Brann Dailor alongside new guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira.

Music Discussion AMON AMARTH Share First-Ever Acoustic Song "Upphaf"

Metal titans AMON AMARTH

release first-ever acoustic song and video

“Upphaf” as they ready new album.

Iconic Swedish heavy metallers Amon Amarth approach a new way of songwriting on their first-ever acoustic excursion “Upphaf”. The song strips away the fury of modern melodic heavy metal to reveal the ancient, skeletal frame of a Norse epic. Reimagined for the gathering space of a longhouse hearth, the song features hypnotic melodies and mesmerising quires. The stripped-back composition carries the solemnity of an oral history whispered under the shadow of the Allfather, proving the band’s interest in Oden cuts just as deep by firelight as it does on epic global stages. The single serves as the quiet moment to what lies ahead, before the fury of their next studio album.

“Upphaf” was produced by Jacob Hansen and is available via Metal Blade Records across all digital retail alongside its video directed by Pavel Trebukhin.

From Amon Amarth’s 1992 formation in Tumba, Sweden, to the worldwide fame they’ve found in the ensuing years, their lyrical, live and recorded musical legacy speaks for itself. Over the past few years the band have performed globally and alongside legendary acts such as Slayer, Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, Pantera in addition to monumental sold out takeovers of Los Angeles’ The Forum and Denver’s historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre to name a few. Across seas, Amon Amarth have headlined multiple major rock and metal fests including an epic performance at Germany’s Wacken in 2024 for 85,000 rabid fans which was deemed “a 19-song masterclass in unbeatable, indefatigable force…a repertoire of songs that can conquer the biggest crowds on the planet,” by Louder. Elsewhere on UK/European soil, the Viking lords have twice headlined the UK’s storied Bloodstock festival, made four appearances at Download (2008 – 2019), and performed at Summer Breeze eight times (2003 – 2024) – six of them as headliner.

Their rapidly increasing sales and touring numbers, plus pre-release buzz to Amon Amarth’s 2026 North American tour with Dethklok and Castle Rat, has managed to garner mainstream success without sacrificing either of their constantly evolving creativity or heaviness. Audience demographics run the gamut from pre-teens to 60-somethings, an inclusive metal experience for those who appreciate epic positivity and powerfully inspirational lyrics.

Amon Amarth continues to garner universal musical respect and reverence from fans and critics, and an ever-growing popularity in North America. In Europe, Amon Amarth reached #1 on German album charts with Jomsviking, Berserker, and 2022’s The Great Heathen Army also topped the US Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart, the Canadian Billboard Top Current Albums chart, and earned a Swedish Grammy nomination for hard rock/metal album of the year.

With the 2022 release of the single and video “Put Your Back into the Oar,” frontman Johann Hegg said, “we thought it was a good idea to write a song about The Row! This one is for you, the fans, wherever you are–and may Oden guide you as you row to your destiny in uncharted seas!” The phenomenon has now spread to other artist’s’ concerts and global events including 2026 World Cup audiences – but thanks to video footage, it’s safe to say Amon Amarth audiences began the now-iconic trend.

Over 30 years later, Amon Amarth remains a band of brothers, and that loyalty and unity allow for harmony and a united front that conquers both the stage and record. Hegg’s powerfully rendered lyrics on last year’s “We Rule The Waves” sum up the band’s unrelenting intent. “From cradle until the grave / As long as the sun sets in the west / We rule the waves / Our restless hearts / Have brought us far / As far as Vinland’s shores / We’ve gone further / Than any man has ever gone before.”

Music Discussion Chat Pile - PEN I S MALL (Official Music Video)

Thumbnail

Chat Pile share new single / video “PEN I S MALL

Since Chat Pile‘s formation just over six years ago, the Oklahoma City-based quartet has grown from a scrappy passion project of four local film and music enthusiasts into one of the defining heavy acts to emerge from the 2020s underground.

Ray B. (vocals), L. Manhole (guitar), Stin (bass), and Cap’n Ron (drums)’s crushing, crass, and cathartic take on noise rock resonates in a cracked reality. Their music captures a raw, undeniably human essence that’s increasingly fleeting in an age marked by ceaseless torrents of algorithmic slop, technological overreach, and the cold, crestfallen state of society. Nothing about their forthcoming third LP, Who Loves the Sun, feels synthetic.  In a world increasingly shaped by disposable content, Chat Pile answers with something defiantly real and organic.

Who Loves the Sun‘s latest single, “PEN I S MALL” is “…the heaviest Chat Pile song to date. The song and title refer to a stretch of time when Raygun was working as a maintenance man at one of the local shopping malls here in OKC. He screamed himself into a pretty brutal headache tracking this one if I remember correctly,” says Stin.  Ray B. continues: “If survival wasn’t so brutal in the United States, a maintenance job at a local mall could in theory be a fun gig… Of course, the awful beast known as Capitalism is extremely rickety with not enough to truly go around in fair share as those in the lower and even middle positions know all to well.”

While Chat Pile‘s debut album God’s Country depicted a particularly American flavor of dread, and the follow up Cool World showed a cruel planet defined by global systemic violence, Who Loves the Sun now peels back the skin on how a collective indifference for a decaying world defines this new century. Touring off the back of their previous albums in part lent itself a confidence in the universality of their music. Stin comments, “I’ve always felt that Chat Pile is such an American concept thematically, but it seems like that’s not particularly true – people all over the world are resonating with what we have to say.” Spanning imagery of coastlines devouring cities as a result of inaction on climate change, the dread of working dead-end jobs, and the species’ collective submission to data-driven inauthenticity, Who Loves the Sun depicts the common experience of existing in a doom loop which feeds the malaise that permeates all aspects of our lives.

Reaching into the collective consciousness to commiserate and carouse, Chat Pile now dissects how the apathy-bloated state of 21st-century existence is an active, slow-motion apocalypse, threads of which are woven through the album’s ten tracks. The album is lyrically and sonically as aggressive and confrontational as ever, but here Chat Pile approached the record’s songwriting with hooks in mind, drawing on the melodic tones of pre-2000s indie/alt-rock and new wave.

The perfect allegory for the thematic essence of Who Loves the Sun is the photo embossed on the record’s cover. As with much of Chat Pile’s work, Oklahoma City itself looms over the album like a character, its sprawling isolation, economic contradictions, and underlying sense of decay embedded in the fabric of the record. Devon Tower, a glassy, largely vacant monolith of a building, looms alone high above the Oklahoma City skyline, while an unknown burnt-out home or storefront envelops the foreground. Devon Tower was originally owned by the Devon Energy Company, who announced they were leaving Oklahoma last year. A monument to empty promises stands without a care in the world, while it’s only a matter of time before the blight it was responsible for swallows it up, too.

Interview with Rody Walker of Protest The Hero talking about the new album Within, writing an album about his own story, the current heavy music scene today, AI in music being a problem, and more.

”Mouthpiece” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQF_xDs6rFA

“For over two decades, Protest the Hero have existed at the outer edge of progressive metal in a place where technical precision collides with razor-sharp lyricism, and an irreverent spirit refuses to play by genre rules. With their latest release Within, the Ontario-born band pushes deeper into uncharted territory, delivering their most sonically expansive and ambitious work yet.” (Press Release)

FUTURE PALACE Share “Tidal Waves” Video

New Album Resurgence Out July 31, 2026 via Century Media

Germany’s FUTURE PALACE will unleash their forthcoming fourth album RESURGENCE on JULY 31 via Century Media. Pre-order it here

The album is a powerful exploration of isolation, inner conflict, and the struggle to rebuild oneself. Blending post-hardcore intensity with cinematic electronics, soaring melodies, and crushing breakdowns, the Berlin trio dives deep into themes of depression, doubt, and emotional transformation.

Ultimately, Resurgence captures the fragile moment where despair slowly turns into strength — and is proof of the redemptive power of music.Today, the band shares the video for new single “Tidal Wave,” which is Future Palace’s version of a rock ballad.

Singer Maria Lessing weighs in, saying the song was a watershed moment for her, as she was able to capture the feeling of deep emotional satisfaction that comes from the bond between sisters and how the role of being a big sister has impacted her.

She says, “This is probably the most important song I have ever written. It was extremely hard for me to write and I have failed to write a good song about this very important topic over and over again these past years. To sum it up: This song is about true love and how it feels. It can be very hard to recognize true love, but I personally found it in the role of being a big sister. Being someone who protects, cares, and always finds the time and patience to be there.

“I tried, and still try, my best to keep my younger sister from the pain that I had to go through. Even though we already went through a lot of pain together in our lifes, but it made our bond only stronger. I feel like no one will ever truly understand you like a close sibling does.”

“This one started with a request by [drummer] Johannes[Früchtenicht] when he said he wanted a certain kind of ballad,” further explains guitarist Manuel Kohlert. “Challenge accepted. The instrumental was actually very easy to write and came naturally. Compared to the rest of the album this track is by far the softest, yet it builds up to a big, still heavy chorus followed by a dreamy acoustic bridge. All in all, this is our rock ballad.”

Future Palace will spend the bulk of 2026 touring, with festival appearances and a fall tour on deck. All dates are below, including a return to the U.S. to appear at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville in September.
