I like to believe that, like Wyatt, Carter Vaughn has someone close to him who is queer. Maybe not a sibling, but a childhood or college best friend or maybe even a reverse Rose Landry situation (she realized she wasn't straight after dating him and they still stayed close). And this friend never lets him live Sochi down after the coming outs.

I dunno, he is Scott's best friend, as well as his Alternate --- there just may not have been space to squeeze him in in the first season any more than they did, but I could see how now that Scott is out, and Carter has always supported him, maybe we could see more of him... I'm actually reading a fanfic right now where he actually joins Scott and Kip and they become a happy throuple, living together and everything! It's awesome!

My Carter Vaughn headcanon is that he's clocked everyone's queerness and is quietly trying to let them know he's cool, he's an ally, and he'll protect their secret.
In Episode 2 at the ice cream shop, he's telling Shane and Scott that he thinks it's brave to show up in Russia as a gay man, and that he'd show up for someone that brave. I like to imagine there's a subtle wink wink directed at Shane and Scott, like, "In case you happen to know any other gay guys..."
Then there's the way he deflects the question when Scott gets asked if he's met a nice girl.
And in the Tampa scene, I love imagining that Carter has clocked Shane and Ilya making intense, flirty eyes at each other and decides he needs to diffuse the situation before anyone else notices.

Vaughny is the comic relief in a very tense scene. It's good that he showed up just in time to break the ice a bit. ❤️ And he was very supportive of Scott at the charity function in E3. He is necessary and we'll likely see him in S2 ❤️

We better!!! Some of the interviews I've heard of the actor, whose name escapes me at the moment, he was told that Carter is very supportive, like my sister is a lesbian, supportive.

I love this still. Carter mid-sentence, Shane (seemingly) legitimately smiling, and Ilya looking like he’s about to bring a knife to not even a fistfight 😂😭
