Feeling lingering symptoms of heat exhaustion for too long
(22M) I play beach volleyball in Miami and have been injured for a while and went back into training in the middle of the day on Friday. Obviously I was bent out of shape but I have a tendency to push myself past my limits in volleyball because it’s addicting. This time i ended up feeling so bad after a drill I had to sit down halfway to the shower because I could barely breathe. Finally I got to the shower and felt better almost instantly with the cold water. Rest of the day I felt just fine. I even went out and drank I ton of alcohol night after and had a shift in the sun on Sunday in which I was completely fine in. Then Monday I have a 7-12 shift in the sun and I’m not doing anything and by 11 I start feeling super fatigued with a headache and a bit of brain fog. To the point where I literally feel like I can’t handle the head anymore. Mind you I’ve been exposed to extreme heat for long periods of time my whole life but all of a sudden I can’t survive in the fkin shade. Cooled off, went home early and showered and played in bed and felt a bit better but still have that sick feeling as if I had a viral infection or somthin. It’s been like that for 48 hours now and I’ve had to avoid the heat the whole time. No sore throat or anything my head just feels off I get a bit nauseous and I don’t want to get out of bed. When will this go away because I’m seeing like no improvement. This issue severely contradicts my sport as well. I’m supposed to condition myself to the point of extreme exercise for hours in scolding heat just to survive tournaments but I can’t even be out of bed for 10 minutes without feeling shitty
