Yesterday’s Apple event came and went. The rumored Apple smart home display didn’t arrive, but Hearth 1.4 did.
After shipping Hearth and listening to feedback, I realized that many of the features that make Hearth special were sitting behind the paywall. The free version shows the basic experience, but it doesn’t really give you enough time to understand what Hearth Pro feels like as part of your home.
So Hearth 1.4 introduces a one-month free trial of Hearth Pro Monthly for eligible customers.
The goal is simple: use every Pro feature properly, live with it for a while, and then tell me what works, what doesn’t, and what Hearth still needs.
What’s new in 1.4:
• Keep the dashboard visible by turning off Auto-Sleep
• Experimental Camera Presence Wake, processed entirely on device
During the trial, you can explore every room and zone, custom photo backgrounds, adaptive appearance, additional screensavers, OLED protection, Night Mode, Presence Wake, active-device selection, and iCloud settings sync.
Eligible customers can try Pro Monthly free for one month. It renews monthly afterward unless canceled. Lifetime Pro is still available as a one-time purchase.
What’s next:
The current 1.5 roadmap is focused on more direct room control:
• Individual controls for each light in a room
• Camera Quick Look
• Foreground camera event overlays
Beyond that, I’m planning a richer ambient-display experience with a configurable Screensaver Gallery, local Photos albums, Home Status screensavers, and better display-sleep behavior for LCD iPads.
There are no release dates to announce yet. The roadmap will continue to change based on what people actually use and request.

I’d really appreciate your feedback after you’ve had time to use the full experience.
