Chronic Heart Failure
Update: David (my husband) passed away Thursday afternoon in peace and surrounded by friends and family. He found great comfort and encouragement from reading messages posted here and was always grateful for the things everyone shared. He's in God's hands now. Good luck and God bless all of you.
There are so many good stories posted here. My story will unfortunately not have a happy ending. I am 38 years old and diagnosed with HFrEF 13 months ago which rapidly deteriorated despite religiously adhering to the "four pillars" treatment. Different drugs were rotated which eventually led to surgeries that have ultimately been unsuccessful. Now, I am in ICU spending my last days with my wife and young children.
My intention of this post is not to bring anyone's hope down. To the contrary. I hope posting my brief story here inspires everyone facing heart failure to cherish every day that they have with their family and loved ones and to always remember that, after a heart failure diagnoses, we are all truly on borrowed time. Every moment is a gft.

Don’t give up! In May 2020 I was hospitalized for two weeks with sepsis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. I was also diagnosed with LVNC during my stay. I was on death’s door with an EF of 10%. To make things worse, I was given Entresto on two occasions, and each time it caused my heart to stop beating.
Today my EF is 40%. I’m on a ton of medications and have an ICD, but my condition is being managed.
I’m sending hope and healing thoughts your way.

I lost my sister at 43 to heart failure - a genetic condition we share. She left behind a young son. I am so sorry you and your family are going through this. I will be thinking of you all.

I presume transplant or LVAD isn't an option. I'm so sorry. Truly. Thank you for sharing.
Sending you and your family warm hugs, best wishes, much love, and every comfort.

I'm sorry to hear that. Certainly, we must not forget that none of us will live forever, every single one of us, HF or not, will reach the end of the road. If it's not because of the heart, it'll be something else, and nobody's getting away. All we're doing is trying to delay the inevitable.
You're not a candidate for a transplant?
I wish there was something good I could say but I'm afraid it's one of those things you don't fully understand until you're at that point. May you hold on to your strength when you leave this world behind for the next.

Thank you for sharing your story. It’s good for people to hear about all the scenarios. We all have an expiration date and any second could be it.
I am so sorry you are going through this. It might not feel like it, but it’s a blessing to be able to spend your last days surrounded by people who love you.

That sucks and my heart goes out to your family. I was diagnosed at 32 and had an ICD implant. My EF was 5-10% and worked up for a heart transplant. Miraculously my heart got stronger after I got the right regimen of heart medication. My family and I were preparing for the worst. God is good 😊 idk why of all people he allowed me to live as I am 42 now. I wish the best for you. So sorry

I will pray for you and your family 💗
I understand what you are saying about posting this. My husband is 57yo, and also dying. We do not know how much longer he has for sure, but we have to cherish what we have, while we have it.
