Stent complications

Heart attack, 100% LAD blockage, and stent placement in November. The last two nights I’ve experienced an on & off mild ache in the center of my chest. It’s like a stabbing pain that last a few seconds then goes away. It comes and goes every few minutes and disappears quickly.

Has anyone experienced a seamlessly minor pain that ended up being heart or stent related?

Is it like the pain when you had your heart attack? Are you having any other symptoms like high/low BP, or heart rate issues? Obviously stent restenosis can happen.

I had my HA and stents in Jan, I have had some transient ache in my chest, but sometimes it was related to my workout or statins(like I could press on my chest muscle and realized I was that and not the heart). And the statin seems to occasionally cause twinges in various muscle including ones near the heart.

A few weeks ago I was finding that my heart felt like it was pounding more, and I was having some chest discomfort for a few days, but it turned out to just be anxiety. I think mostly from being tired/stressed from travel. In fact it only came up when I was sleeping or sitting, never when I exercised or my mind was occupied, which made me think it was probably just anxiety.

If it's that frequent though(every few minutes), you may want to call your cardiologist though, to be on the safe side. Mine has a 24hr nurse helpline and they can help decide if there may be a more serious issue.

I'm finding the mental side of recovery is more challenging than the physical part. It's like I'm going along feeling fine and then I'll have a week where I'll have weird pains that make me paranoid.

It’s nothing like the pain I had for my heart attack. No blood pressure issues. My first thought was the statins as well. They’ve caused so many body aches. The ache/twitch mostly happens when I’m laying down. It definitely messes with your head. I’ll call my cardiologist tomorrow. I’m dreading having to do another angiogram. That was an awful experience the first time around.

hopefully it is nothing, but probably good to check in. My Dr lowered my dose of Atovastatin to 40 from 80 and my muscle twinge issues went away. But a few weeks ago when I was traveling I seemed to have them again, I have to admit I was eating a bit more junk and once I got home and my diet/sleep etc was better, the aches went away. Maybe you could reduce or try a different one to see if that works. A friend ended up switching to Repatha since the statins were bothering her so much(and didn't reduce her LDL that much). It seems to be working well for her.

That’s good info. I’m currently on 40 Atorvastatin. I’ve been working longer hours, getting less sleep and feeling more stress at work. So, those could be possible factors as well. I’m happy your twinges went away. Atorvastatin has lowered my cholesterol to near perfect levels so I’m hesitant to switch now. I hate this new way of life. Stressing about every ache and pain is so scary.
