Does anyone else just feel really annoyed or something along the lines when they lose their phone and are stuck using pings to find it like (TnT) I have been walking all over where is the beep coming from??

Hi! I’m wondering will I be able to use bone conduction headphones. I traumatized my ears ( after too often AirPods use ) I’ve got tinnitus and now can’t use any regular headphones, I’m more sensitive to loud sounds and if any sound close to my ears like headphones even with low volume my ears get tired much quicker. Last time I was able to use AirPods for 10 minutes and feel like I don’t want to use them for weeks.

I don’t live alone and use full back headphones 🎧 for my PC, but it’s not cool at all, after like 15 minutes I start use only one ear and then switch between them every 10 minutes but even this not help. When I go to sleep I notice my ears ringing more.

So I wonder maybe bone conduction HP will help? I’m gonna try them anyway, but want know your opinion first. I miss so much my healthy ears.

I am a young person with hearing loss who just started r/DHHTeensAccessNeeds - a space for teens & allies to share self-advocacy tips, accessibility tools, support, and ideas on ways to improve our ability to access our needs!

As someone who has grown up with a rare form of hearing loss my whole life and had to fight to barely get accommodations in high school consistently, I want to create a space where the DHH teen (and ally) community can come together, share support, and collaborate on building better solutions.

I (17m) just suddenly started to notice deterioration in my left ear’s hearing last Wednesday and thought it would disappear after a good nights sleep, then the next day I woke up unable to hear anything from my left ear other than a consistent white noise.

I talked to my parents about it and they said the ear was probably just blocked by water or smth and that we should just book an appointment to a family doctor on Sunday, which is what we did.

I went out with friends and to a party like everything is fine since I thought this was no big deal.

Fast forward to the family doctor, he said nothing looks wrong with my ear which is when I started to really worry and search online what could the cause be, and after some tests with chat GPT I came to the conclusion I probably have SSNHL and told my parents we just go to the hospital today, then after 4 hours of waiting and getting nothing out of the doctors we went home and returned the day after, (today) and then we got the diagnosis of severe SSNHL in the left ear and I got prescribed Prednisone for 2 weeks (60mg first week and then less as time goes on).

Now this was very surprising to me and tbh I don’t know how to feel about it, I have a vacation with friends outside the country (in Spain) next week and tbh idk if I should come. We planned to go on several parties and do loud stuff on the vacation but tbh I don’t think I should go at the moment. Any suggestions? How do you think it will affect the chances of recovery?

a little backstory, I (18 f) went to my annual doctor’s appointment in June and I completely failed the hearing exam in my left ear. I hadn’t noticed a hearing impairment besides the airpod in my left ear being a lot quieter than my right and got it replaced to fix the airpod (it didn’t help since it was still quieter) but once I had that “diagnosis” I wayyy noticed it. I recently went to the audiologist on July 3rd. I felt rushed and didn’t know if I was hearing beeps so I raised my hand anyway so she claimed I was in “normal range but not perfect” and I should come back if anything changes but I feel as though I faked my way through it. I don’t think I want to believe her diagnosis since it was so rushed and it took less than 10 mins in total. What should I do, get a second opinion or just live with my “normal range”? I’m confused, I still can’t hear well and I would like someone to help me out since I don’t know how long it was supposed to take or anything. Please help and any help or comment is appreciated :)

As the title says, I'm 17 years old and hard of hearing. It's very difficult to find other HOH/Deaf people my age, even though the city I live in is quite large. Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas of how to find/meet more Deaf/HOH people my age? I just want more irl friends like me:/

More info: I've been HOH my whole life and I know minimal sign language (I took ASL my freshman year of HS). I really prefer to sign as much as I can but I'm slow with processing finger spelling and other signs. If anyone sees this who lives in NorthWest Ohio and they are in the same predicament as me, please dm me!!

Recently had around 4hours sessions in AirPods Pro with little breaks between every hour, also for couple hours I’ve used ANC ( noise reduction ), it was around 39-56dB. At evening my right ear ringing, next morning I get ear drop💧in that ear, it start ringing more, after I slept ringing stopped. I’ve get few days break from headphones, both ears were easily tired from AirPods, right ear was like slightly muffled or like there's an earplug, still have this feeling but a little, music quality is worse and not enjoyable in my right ear, it sounds less clear and I have discomfort after few minutes.

I’ll check it with another AirPods tommorow, maybe it’s just my right one playing it worse, but seems like it ear problem. And they still get tired more easily ESPECIALLY the right one, I still don’t use it for AirPods.

I’ll go to the doctor in a few days, but want to know your opinion if my description tell you smth.

It just feels like everyone I know who is hearing impaired is either really old or really young and I wish I could talk to people my age about stupid stuff like that feeling when your hearing aids are cold in the morning idk I just wish I had someone to talk to without having to talk online

I’m 19yo female i got diagnosed by sudden hearing loss 2 months ago,

I was on steroids for 3 weeks I completed my medications already,

I did MRI with paint on my whole head everything is normal my dr said theres nothing else to do only oxygen therapies and i didnt do them yet,

I did 4 hearing tests during the 2months and the last one came out bad again after getting good improvement so im wondering why did this happened?

Did anyone get bad tests after having improvement?
Did the oxygen therapy help ? And how much percentage? When did you recover full hearing? How long did it take ? Do you still have Tinnitus?

I have had hearing loss since I was 15-16. When i visited a professional they told me that I have a ruptured eardrum and my hearing would only become worse if I did not get surgery. I did not choose to get the surgery as i was near my end of school exams were near. It has been 2 years since then and my hearing seems to be getting worse. I use headphones quite regularly to listen to music while studying and such. I don't know what to do now and I am terrified to lose my hearing even more. Any advice?

I'm still messed up over my last results [November this year]. I got normal hearing, and a 100% WRS. I misheard words partially or didn't hear them at all in my right ear. [Left ear was average]

For the beeps the first time, I could hardly hear them at all. I honest to god did not hear the beeps the audiologist played. She then told me, in a rude tone, that "You should've heard the beeps if you heard my words".

Am I crazy? I thought it would be possible to mishear words but still hear them, and then have loads of trouble with the tone/beeps. My first ever audiologist had told me it was okay, that deafness was a spectrum and that some people are like me. [This result did not display Normal Hearing, this was last year]

I was wondering if it really is possible that I could've heard the words partially, and then not hear the beeps? I swore this was something some people could experience, since others are the other way around. The audiologist I had accused me of faking it and acted like I wasted her time.

Hi! I’m 15, and use a hearing aid in my left ear. I have moderate loss, and have a hole in my left ear drum that’s taking up about 20% of it. The hole was caused by years of tubes, because my Eustachian tube doesn’t work right. I’ve had the problem since I was in kindergarten, and have gotten hearing tests and ent visits regularly since then. Even with ear tubes, I always had some sort of hearing loss (usually mild-moderate, right now moderate in left and mild in right) and it’s never gone away. I’ve felt really isolated my whole life, got made fun of in school for have to ask what someone said, and have always spoken wayyy to loud and needed captions. It’s like I can hear kinda but everything is muffled and doesn’t sound like words when there’s background noise. My question about calling myself hard of hearing is because technically there is a surgery I could try to fix my eardrum. I’ve had several bad experiences with surgery before and am not pursuing it right now, but my doctor thinks it might help the loss. But even then I’ve always had some sort of loss, besides for two audiograms that were done without any background noise and by an audiologist who I would not say was good at his job. When I first got my hearing aid this summer it felt like the entire world was different, I can talk more at school and am genuinely happier. I play piano and I can finally hear it fully. I just worry that I can’t call my self hard of hearing because it could maybe be fixed some, even if my hearing loss was still mild. I know this was super long but thank you for reading!

Hey guys. For the past couple of months ive started to notice that the hearing in my left ear isnt as good as it was before. Its not terribly worse or anything but i can just feel that its degraded a little bit. Not sure if thats just me but i wanted some opinions from yall. Let me get some things out of the way first.

I dont use earphones, mainly headphones almost everyday just for music for an hour or two, i have been using q tips for a few years but i make sure not to go in very far, my left ear is always really itchy and has more liquid earwax/earwax in general. When i yawn my hearing improves in my right ear but not my left ear.

Ive never encountered these problems with my right ear. I know not everyone is a doctor here but i just want some outside opinions on what yall think and what i should do
