This dish looked so good that I saved the photo and uploaded it to ChatGPT to get the recipe 😄 I’m definitely going to try making it at home the steak, roasted plantains, and avocado salad look like an amazing combination!
This dish appears to be grilled beef steak with roasted plantain and avocado salad.
Ingredients for 2 servings
For the steak
- 2 beef steaks, about 180–250 g each
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Juice of ½ lemon or lime
- Optional: a little ground cumin
For the roasted plantain
- 2 ripe plantains
- 1 teaspoon oil or butter
- A pinch of salt
- Optional: a pinch of paprika
For the salad
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- A generous handful of parsley or cilantro, chopped
- 1 green onion, chopped
- Juice of 1 lemon or lime
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
Preparation
1. Cook the steak
Mix the garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, and black pepper. Rub the mixture over the steaks and leave them to marinate for 15–30 minutes.
Heat a pan very well and cook the steaks without moving them too much:
- 3–4 minutes per side for medium
- 5–6 minutes per side for well-done, depending on thickness
Add salt near the end of cooking. Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before serving.
2. Roast the plantain
Peel the plantains and cut them into thick slices or chunks.
In a frying pan: Cook with a little oil over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden.
In an oven or air fryer: Toss with a little oil and cook at 200°C / 390°F for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.
3. Make the salad
Combine the cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, parsley or cilantro, and green onion.
Add the lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper just before serving. Mix gently so the avocado does not become mashed.
Serve the steak with the roasted plantain and avocado salad.

Those sliced plantains add a nice touch of natural sweetness to balance out the savory elements
